- It has been more than a decade since I became the editor and publisher of Zine World. A lot has changed in the past 12 years, both in the realm of zine publishing and within the pages of ZW itself. It is time, perhaps past time, for another change, a big change.
I am stepping down as the publisher and head editor of Zine World. However, I don't want this to be the end of the zine. I want to see Zine World continue, and I want to continue to be a part of it. After talking it over with some current ZW volunteers and zine friends, I have decided to try to relaunch ZW with new leadership: an editorial team, or collective. This new editorial team will take on not only dividing the workload and responsibilities of publishing the zine, but also examine the zine itself from the bottom up.
In the meantime, Zine World is officially on a hiatus. I am suspending orders after filling the orders I have on hand.
If you are interested in seeing Zine World continue, interested enough to be a part of the new leadership, if you have solid ideas on how we can continue to take this zine forward, please join our Google group, https://groups.google.com/d/forum/zineworld (or email me at zineworld@... and I will add you).
If you know people especially people in the greater Portland area who would be into this project, please forward this message to them. We will begin virtual meetings and/or online discussions soon. I also plan to host some open meetings in Portland for local folks.
I hope a few of you die-hards out there are willing to take this journey with us.
