- May 14, 2010Dear Grounds Group and Roshi,
Yes I agree that we need to replace the furniture in the Kanzeon garden. This area was an area that I had planned to clean up this month, along with working on the courtyards and stone pile. I do hope to get to these in June. I am in Seattle dealing with a family issue and do not know when I will be returning. I am sorry to be so behind in the gardens and will put lots of effort into these areas when I do return.
The change of furniture. The problem with wood is there is always upkeep with it. They make some pretty nice furniture that can withstand our weather but of course they are costly. Perhaps we could begin to google around and send some ideas out; pictures are the best. Roshi, are we sticking with individual chairs, benches, or what do you for this area? I seldom sit there but I know you use it often for meetings, so any input?
The cost of this is not in our grounds budget but when I get back I can meet with Mary and see what we come up with.
Thank you all for caring for the grounds; The sprinklers are a big job for Jotai, Mugan is trimming, watering and weeding, planting and watching.... Roberta has been weeding for us on the weekends.I am so sorry to not be there to get my hands dirty, soon I hope.
Thinking of you all, blessings, Faith-Mind

Subject: [zclagroundsgroup] Kanzeon Garden Chairs
Greetings Grounds Group,
I suggest that it is time to replace the chairs around the Kanzeon statue. They have been carefully repaired quite a bit over the past 12 years or so -- who would have thought they would have lasted this long? The red chair was removed to trash due to its debilitated condition. Can we all be on the lookout for possible replacements? Good, sturdy chairs for the contemplative wild spot -- chairs that can be covered? We know the birds also love them.
Please give your feedback.
In gassho and appreciation for our beautiful Dharma grounds,
