      By 1971 the first steam hauled enthusiast managed specials were running,
      Today there are not only specials on the network but due to deregulation
      there are multiple timetabled regular steam hauled services including the
      Jacobite, services between Pickering and Whitby (which run half on a
      preserved heritage railway and half on the main network) and several
      others.

      Such is the power of steam.
