Thanks for posting this excellent Los Angeles news feature that
has so many old photographs of the the LA horse-drawn
street cars! Think of these as oatmeal fueled railways.
It appears that in almost exactly the same year, 1873,
San Francisco's cable cars were put into service. Hey,
I can still board one of these!
It's fun to ride around on "unbelievable trains", besides
I still haven't seen many places where you can jump on
a flying streetcar or skateboard...
