- There are a couple of different types of 'reversing' devices: essentially little pieces of electronics through which you run track power. One type uses diodes installed across gaps at the end points of the track runs. The diodes effectively stop the loco until the electronics reverse the polarity, based on a timer. Other devices use some kind of sensor (IR, laser, whatever) and when the loco crosses the sensor the circuit reverses. I've used reversing kits from Lajos (ZThek, unfortunately no longer making them) and Dallee, both of the diode variety, and I find them easy and very reliable to use. Circuitron is another manufacturer.
