- The 7272 is for manual control of switches. It can be combined with the circuit tracks for automatic control of switches as the train passes over.
I run the circuits from my circuit tracks through a Viessmann 5550, which is basically an on off switch for four separate connections. Each circuit switch uses two connections, and the Viessmann can gang the connections. Not sure what the equivalent Marklin unit would be or whether you can still buy it.
Anyway, my wiring path is circuit track -->> on/off (Viessmann) -->> 7272 (or similar) -->> turnout. Two power wires for each turnout are wired that way.
