Re: MTL PS-2 Hopper
- The Approximate Time Period of the PS-2s does start in the late
1950's. There have been several different articles on this and many
photos of possible releases, so there will be no shortage of
potential roads and road numbers for Micro-Trains!
The Kadee (not MTL, the "brother" company) has released a number of
PS-2s in recent months including an ATSF and lists the built and
paint dates for each release on their website.
With respect to the forthcoming ATSF release from Micro-Trains, I
will have more on this in the UMTRR when the car is actually
released. But the particular car pictured on the MTL website (ATSF
82297) was part of a 500 car order from Pullman-Standard in 1957.
The build date is May 1957 on that car, visible in the image on the
MTL site. (Look under "Coming Soon.")
One further note: The photo MTL has shows the roof as almost white.
That may be from cement dust; when Kadee released this car in HO its
roof was the same mineral red color as the rest of the car.
