Z SCALE NEW RELEASES: No releases this month.
      Z SCALE REPRINTS: 14712, Marklin Coupler, $16.25, 14712-2,
      Micro-Trains
Coupler, $17.95, Steel Caboose, Santa Fe (AT&SF). Box car red
      with
white lettering of just reporting marks and number in center.
      Road
Number 2000. Approximate Time Period: 1940's to 1960's.
Let's see, the 1996 release of this 1:220 caboose was numbered
      "1996".
The 1998 release was numbered "1998". The 2000 releases is
      numbered
"2000". Anyone want to speculate as to the prototypical
      fidelity of
this car? OK, I'll withdraw the question. Fact is, many people
      want
matching cabooses to go with their locomotives, especially the F
      units
including the "B"s that MTL has released. However, as I
      mentioned
in the last column, the degree to which cabooses varied across
      rail
lines pretty much makes impossible to do a one size fits all--
      maybe
not even a one size fits two or three-- and so you have a center
cupola hack lettered for a road that probably didn't own a
      single one.
Overall, the year has brought from MTL for Z Scalers: two steel
      forty
foot box cars, two steel fifty foot box cars, two wood box cars,
      two
despatch stock cars, two steel cabooses, one plug door box (the
      holiday
car), the blue warbonnet Santa Fe F-unit, two F7Bs, one in ATSF
      and
one in Pennsy, and a partridge in a pear tree. No, scratch that
      last
one, that comes from someone else...
