I may be mistaken, but I think the newer PennZee reefers were the "seemless"
type. Starting with the "Pacific fruit express". Did they come out in late
2001 or early 2002. These cars are not merely new roadnames from the original
Meat Co. reefers, but a new Mold. The cars are only slightly different, but
they are different. The horizontal seem on alonge the center of the car is
not there. Are all 40' box cars the same? Just a reminder.

          Dear Fred and Rob,

Our memories tend to diminish over time...please check the
          source, i.e. last year's poll:

          http://groups.yahoo.com/group/z_scale/surveys?id=880979

where you'll notice that the Pennzee wood reefers were in the
running for the 2001 Product of the Year Award although I think
that they were actually steel-side reefers!

          Cheers,

            Hello Jeffrey and all,

I would like to submit my Micron Art "Scratch" to the 2002 poll since
it was first developed and released last year. And two more
additional groups of Scratch items were released prior to New Years.

Since there is no one particular item in this group of over 50
different items that can be singled out it would be difficult to
list. Scratch is a whole line of new products that did not exist
prior to 2002 , so they should be listed in a poll but perhaps in
a different poll category like: "Best new line of products for 2002."
Just a suggestion. If I were to chose my favorite Z scale set
            items for 2002, it would have to be the E9A - E9B - E9A
locomotives from Hans Riddervold's American Z Lines.

At any rate, last year wasn't bad for Z scale but I guarantee,
2003 is going to be spectacular!

            Regards to all,

                            Hello Ted,

I hate to do this to myself but this product did not come
                            out until late January 2003.

(Just in case there are some N scale lurkers out there)
I have just completed a number tests with this device and
have found that it also works perfectly for N scale turnouts.
Tested on Peco Streamline manual turnouts (their mechanism
is really cool), MicroEngineering Turnouts (which are awkward
                            to put together because of their strange throw bar arrangement}
and Atlas code 55 turnouts (which by the way, are some of
best turnouts and flex track I have ever seen and are cheap!).

Naturally I would prefer a Kato Z gauge trackwork package for
those lazy evenings when you just want to snap together
some track and run the train around the coffee table but
you've seen me harping on this for years now.

Also, like I mentioned in a previous email, these Archimedeans
can be mechanized because of the .25 module gear structure
of the actuator wheel. I am looking into packaging a mechanized
kit for them, and with careful wiring will run off your Marklin
power supply. It may include a motor with the .25 spur gear
already installed and a DPDT switch for running it. I don't
think you'll need an additional electronic device to make this throw
work and see no need for such a complicated device just
to run a motor back and forth. We'll see if this package can be done
                            cost effectively.

                            Regards to all,
                            Reynard
