During the month of January, we had over 6,000 new hits on our website! Can you believe it? Thank you for the fantastic response to our new videos, postcard distribution (distributed over 20,000 postcards!) and photo tagging examples! We are turning the corner and starting to pick up the pace now! Now the fun begins. I get so charged with emails from moms who are so excited about the season's sale. With registration at an all-time high, Jodi and I have everything in place to take care of each and every consignor. The beauty of the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center is that we never have to turn a consignor away. Everyone is invited to consign. In addition, many area sales are starting to use Myconsignmentmanager tagging system which makes it so easy for consignors to participate in multiple sales throughout the season! We know the goal is to recycle and reinvest! I think of it as I am renting my children's wardrobe! Such a Win-Win situation for everyone who participates and we need you this season more than ever!I am busy sorting and pinning at this point and ready to start tagging. Advertising has started, and this season I think we are going to add television to the mix! Any Oprah watchers out there? You can feel confident that Tot Trade Charlotte has made every effort to organize drop off, presale, and pick-up so that you have the best consigning experience possible. You are our customer. We have a few changes and notes that we wanted to be sure you were aware of including
A few tagging hints as you get started:
- 100 item appointments - as moms start tagging, appointments will go quickly. Once appointment times are taken we will be unable to add more apts. Please note, if you have more than 100 items Tot Trade will be able to check your items in our non-scheduled area; however, please allow more time for check-in. We will have (4) dedicated 100 item check-in stations and (2) non-scheduled check-in stations.
- In an effort to comply with safety standards, Tot Trade Charlotte will have a recall notebook available at check-in. Tot Trade Charlotte has posted recall links on the Consignor page of the website. In addition we will be checking all cribs , pack-n-plays and toddler beds. Please note cribs must be assembled. Shoppers like to know all parts are included. Thanks for taking this extra step!
- New this season, be sure to download the consignor agreement, sign and bring to drop off.
- New this season: Tagging Videos- a great reminder or helpful hints for new consignors. Tagging Photos online too!
- Game Trade: Tot Trade will offer a new section that features gaming systems, games, plug in games and accessories. Has your child upgraded his/her game system? Do they have games they are not playing or outgrown? Earn more than a "trade" at your local retailer! We will have a TV on hand to test systems.
- This season Tot Trade Charlotte will organize your accessories per size and gender. This improved display will help shoppers find exactly what they are looking for!
- Please note ALL onesies must be hung on hangers and not in BAGS.
Supplies can be found at the Dollar Store, Walmart and Target. Be sure to us CARD STOCK PAPER for your tagging template and online tags, regular copy paper is too flimsy and your tags will fall off your items!Last important step is to mark your items with your consignor number using masking tape or computer generated labels. Good examples can be found on our tagging video / tagging photos found on the consignor page of the website. If your tag falls off, this extra step will help us retag your item or return your item to you at the end of the sale. Finally, there are a lot of consignor resources found online under Sign Up / Consignor Page. Please look to the right of the page. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us tottrade@....Jodi and I have been organizing Tot Trade Charlotte for over three years and we know this season will be the biggest season yet! We'll see you at drop off!A common problem that crops up in babies between ages 1 and 3 is biting others. Biting is usually done out of frustration, but some babies bite because they want attention or are anxious, jealous or teething. Unfortunately, biting is a major reason why some toddlers can't stay in day care. Whatever the cause, if your child bites you or another child, take these steps: · Say "no bite" in a firm but calm and disapproving voice. · Firmly hold your toddler or have him or her sit down. · Tell your child that biting hurts and isn't OK. · Don't bite your child. While biting may show him or her how it feels, your child may be encouraged to bite more. Likewise, don't spank or tap his or her cheek or mouth since this, too, shows that aggressive behavior is OK. · Try a negative consequence: For instance, don't hold or play with your child for one to five minutes after he or she bites you or someone else. · Praise your child when he or she refrains from biting. · Don't let anyone, including other kids, laugh or treat biting like a game. · Don't give in to your child's demands when he or she bites. These strategies will help prevent biting from becoming a habit. When to get help Call your healthcare provider any time a bite completely breaks open the skin, causing a puncture or a cut. Call during office hours if: · the biting has lasted for more than four weeks despite your having tried all the strategies above · the biting is accompanied by other behavior problems, such as temper tantrums, hitting or throwing things .
