High Holidays Information
You will be getting this info via snail mail, but for those of you who need to mark your calendars! I am also attaching the flier – I hope it comes through….!
Dear Havurah members and friends,
As we approach another High Holiday season, we are pleased to announce that we have invited storyteller, songwriter and teacher Steve Klaper to lead Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services this year. Steve has been a Jewish worship leader and music director for more than ten years, and has been playing guitar and composing music for more 30 and has released four CDs of Jewish music. Currently studying chazzanut with Jack Kessler, he was music director at Temple Emanu-El, Oak Park, MI and has been the High Holiday chazzan at Congregation Shir Tikvah in Troy, MI (a Reform/Renewal amalgam). For more information, you can visit his website at jewishtroubadour.com.
In collaboration with our liturgy committee, Steve has put together a High Holiday prayer book that we feel will be meaningful and speak to our unique community. Services will take place in Rockford Chapel on the Antioch College campus as follows:
Erev Rosh HaShanah Wed. Sept. 8 7:30 pm
First Day Rosh HaShanah Thurs. Sept. 9 10 am
Tashlich Thurs. Sept. 9 1:00 pm
(meet at Rockford at 1:00 to walk over to the Glen)
Erev Yom Kippur Friday Sept. 17 7:30 pm
Yom Kippur morning service Sat. Sept. 18 10 am
Yizkor & concluding service Sat. Sept. 18 7:30 pm
Community Break fast Sat. Sept. 18 8:30 pm
We hope that many of you will be able to attend these services and encourage you to invite friends, family and guests to also join us.
Having kept our dues structure low for many years, we recognize that inviting a Jewish professional to lead services is the largest expense we have yet incurred and we hope extending ourselves like this will take us to a deeper level of spiritual and communal activity. We hope you will consider making a generous tax-deductible contribution to help offset the cost of this exciting and meaningful beginning of the New Year. Please send your donation to:

Wishing you all a Sweet and Healthy Shanah Tovah (5771),
