[begin forward and see full posting below]

Dear Friends and Colleagues: As the new Director of Leadership Development
at the Center for Community Change, I'll be working hard to develop
programs to recruit, train and support community organizers, particularly
among people of color. I hope to work closely with a variety of different
community-based organizations, networks, and training centers to ensure
that our programs benefit the field of community organizing as a whole.

Toward that end, I am hiring an associate to work with me. Below is a
brief description of the position, and I've attached the full job
description. The closing date for applications is November 15th. Please
circulate it to anyone you think may be interested. Potential candidates
who want to know more about the Center should check out our website at
      www.communitychange.org

      Thanks for your help!

      Best regards, Sue

Leadership Development Associate: This is a new position and a new program
for the Center. The program is devoted to recruiting, training, mentoring
and supporting a new generation of community organizers and non-profit
leaders, particularly among people of color. The Leadership Development
Associate will work closely with the Director of Leadership Development,
and other Center staff, to develop short-term and long-term recruitment and
training programs for potential organizers, mentorship opportunities for
experienced organizers, and systems to track organizing talent across the
country. In addition, the Leadership Development Associate will assist in
the development of new internet tools to support recruitment, training and
employment opportunities for the community organizing sector as a whole.

The ideal candidate has strong writing, computer and organizational skills
and a passion for engaging young people in careers devoted to social
justice and community organizing. The candidate should be a self-starter,
capable of developing new programs from scratch, and knowledgeable about
existing youth engagement programs in low-income communities and on college
      campuses.
