      Hi Debby -

The MenuBar API doesn't currently support adding items
that only contain images, but I am targeting to add
that functionality for a future release. However, it
is possible to make it work with the current API. The
technique is pretty simple: use the DOM to replace an
item's text node with an image node. I modified the
current "Application Menubar" example for you to
      demonstrate the technique in action:

      http://yuiblog.com/sandbox/yui/v0113/examples/menu/example11.php

I hope that helps you with your project.
