      I have been playing with the "toolbar" definition in RTE, and think that
      I have both pieces. ( "If you break it, you get to keep both pieces." )

      I know that this is a strange request, but I tried to create an RTE
      instance with NO buttons. I configured it with:

      toolbar: {
      titlebar: 'Editor',
      buttons: []
      }

      and it ( Firebug ) complained that "this._buttonList is null"

      So I tried:

      toolbar: {
      titlebar: 'Editor',
      buttons: [
      { group: 'fontstyle', label: '',
      buttons: [ { type: 'separator' } ]
      } ]
      }

      and it responded the same way.

      Is it absolutely necessary that every RTE instance have at least one
      "real" button in the toolbar?

      Thanks,
      Brian

          This should make the buttons hidden, but keep the title bar: .yui-skin-sam .yui-toolbar-container .yui-toolbar-subcont { display: none; } Hope that helps ;)

              Thanks much, Dav.

              Now I just have to wait for the client group to decide whether HTML is
              the best way to do this content. ( In other words, whether RTE is going
              to be used at all. )
