      Hi again,

I have once more stepped off into the void, and as usual, got unexpected
      results.

I read the Rich Text Editor page on developer.yahoo.com/yui, and decided
to follow the instructions for SimpleEditor, since that seemed to
      provide what I needed.

I added both name and id to my <textarea > tag, noticed that the rows
and columns happened to match what was in the example on the YUI page,
and copied the "new" code into my HEAD section, along with my other YUI
code. ( more details to come )

I then opened my page, and uggh! Instead of the nice tidy editor shown
in the YUI documentation, I have all sorts of uglyness. It starts with
a VERY large "Text Editing Tools" message, continues through various
typesetting options ( Font Name and Size, Font Style, Lists, etc. ),
continues with some, again, very large-type instructions, then, finally,
shows the actual text to edit, and ends with "You have left the Rich
      Text Editor."

I have seen the examples, and this doesn't look anything like them.

I am guessing that I am getting these bizarre display results because my
textarea is actually part of a Dialog BD DIV. I must believe that I'm
not the first to want to do this.

I have looked through the examples in the RTE section of the web site,
but I don't seem to find one that does what I want to do. I am
presuming that there is some kind of conflict between Dialog and
SimpleEditor. Any suggestions for resolving or avoiding the conflict?

      Thanks,
      Brian
