      The panel widget has a configuration attribute named height, by which we can set the height of the panel.
      But the height is set on the container element, not on the body of the panel. I think it doesn't make much sense.
      Try this simple example

      <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd ">
      <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en-US">
          <head>
              <title>Tempate</title>
              <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
              <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="yui/sam/skin.css" />
          </head>
          <body class='yui-skin-sam'>
              <div id='panel'>
                  <div class='hd'>ttt</div>
                  <div class='bd'>ttt</div>
                  <div class='ft'>ttt</div>
              </div>
              <script type="text/javascript" src="yui/yahoo-dom-event.js"></script>
              <script type="text/javascript" src="yui/container.js"></script>
              <script type="text/javascript">
              var p = new YAHOO.widget.Panel('panel', {
                  height : '1100px'
              });
              p.render();
              p.show();
              </script>
          </body>
      </html>

      As you can see, the height takes effect, but not something we'd like to see. The total height of head, body and foot is still no more than 100px. But because I set its height to 1100px, the rest area is filled with gray background of the panel.

        Hi Jing,

        This is currently listed as a known issue:
        http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/container/#knownissues

        Having one of the standard module sections fill the empty space
        automatically (the default being the "bd" section) would probably be
        the desired behavior, and we plan to address this in a future release.

        Regards,
        Satyen
