I work on Firefox extensions for my company, and one of our QA people
noticed YUI's modal dialog code causing us problems. Rather than
gripe about the design (which is actually quite innovative and
tabbrowser-friendly), I'd like notification when a web page loads a
copy of the Yahoo! core library - or in my specific current case, when
it uses a modal dialog from YUI.
Currently, web pages have the former capability if they provide a
YAHOO_config object with a listener method:
I could implement via a XPCOM component such an object, but then
something would probably break when a web page implements the same.
I've been trying to brainstorm a few ideas that would solve my problem
without breaking YUI in any way. The best idea I have, unhappily, is
defined like YAHOO_config, but have a different name.
See my three-part article (first part linked at the end) for details
on how this is generally done.
