The method updatePaginator updates most of the values of the paginator
It seems to me that the example was somehow based on the client-side
paginator and some pieces of the code remain from that example though they
are of little use in this one. When doing server side pagination, the
paginator object is completely useless.
you can see several errors in that example and some fixes and sugestions.
