Group Description

Welcome to Yaesu FRG7 shortwave radio users group. While this forum is dedicated to the FRG-7 we also welcome discussion of other Yaesu communications such as the FRG-7700, FRG-8800 as well.

In 1977 the FRG-7 receiver sold for approximately $300 U.S. Dollars and was distributed by Amateur Radio dealers and Sears & Roebuck department stores with a black case and a Sears Roebuck Logo. Other then that the receive was entirely a Yaesu product and built in Japan at the Yaesu Fukushima factor.

The FRG-7 is an all solid state synthesized communications receiver designed to cover 500 KHz to 29.9 MHz. The FRG-7 is a triple conversion superheterodyne receiver utilizing the Wadley Loop System which uses a harmonic generator that is based on a 1 MHz crystal oscillator which produces a signal at 1 MHz intervals. While not a world class receiver by any means the FRG-7 remains a fine receiver for the casual shortwave listener and they are still a good value for the money.

We welcome you to the group and hope you will contribute to the growth and activity on this forum.
