A tragically high number of bullied teenagers committed suicide this year, sparking nationwide outrage and numerous campaigns to put an end to the harassment.
In October, following the suicides of several students who had been targeted for being gay, President Obama released a video condemning bullying and reaching out to victims as part of the It Gets Better Project.
The Department of Education issued a letter clarifying that certain forms of school bullying violate federal law, and the White House announced it would be hosting a conference on bullying early next year.
