      Al-Fallujah.

Resistance Communiqué: US falls back on all fronts,
large quantity of American weapons and equipment
      captured.

In a dispatch posted at 1:36am Friday morning Mecca
time, the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in
al-Fallujah reported that the Consultative Council of
the Mujahideen of al-Fallujah had issued a communiqué
at 11:30pm Thursday night local time. The communiqué
      said:

"The Consultative Council of the Mujahideen of
al-Fallujah announces that the US forces have
withdrawn along all the four axes along which they
were attacking the south of al-Fallujah – from the
north, east, west, and south. This occurred after the
defeat of the assault begun by the American forces at
about 2pm Thursday, which lasted until about 11pm."

The communiqué stated: "By the grace of God the
Exalted, that attack was repulsed and significant
losses were inflicted on the American forces which
will be detailed tomorrow. According to preliminary
estimates six of our fighters were martyred, one in a
guerrilla operation that he carried out. Two rocket
launchers belonging to our men were destroyed. US
forces also destroyed 17 houses of citizens in various
places in the an-Nazal neighborhood and the
      ash-Shuhada' neighborhood."

The communiqué continued, "As to American losses, 32
large-type US Abrams tanks were destroyed, 12 Bradley
armored vehicles were destroyed. More than 43 other
American vehicles were destroyed including Humvees and
personnel carriers. One US tank in operational
condition was seized by the Resistance, as were 91
light and medium machine guns. These were taken from
Americans who were killed after the main force of the
US troops abandoned them to their fate. Military
glasses, compasses, armor, knives, spears, hand
grenades, and tear gas were seized from the Americans
as well. Tomorrow morning the extent of casualties in
the American ranks will be disclosed."

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that
eyewitnesses reported that US forces had withdrawn
towards the north after mortar shells of 60mm, 82mm,
and 120mm caliber fired by the city's Resistance
forces drove them back. The Resistance forces used
these weapons to strike the rear ranks of the American
occupation troops who were hanging back, driving the
US forces into an improvised flight.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent wrote that Iraqi
Resistance fighters advanced after the Americans fell
back towards the east and took control of a position
above that which they had earlier held. The Resistance
fighters are now securely concentrated in this
      position.

Fierce battle rages Thursday afternoon and into the
night. Intense American pressure on the city, but
Resistance forces prevent any US advance.

In a dispatch posted at 10:10pm Mecca time Thursday
night, Mafkarat al-Islam reported remarks made to
their correspondent in al-Fallujah by a Resistance
commander by the name of Abu Nur at about 9pm local
      time Thursday night.

Abu Nur told Mafkarat al-Islam that fighting raged
from 2:55pm local time until 9pm, but that in that
whole time, the Americans had not been able to advance
as much as one meter into the city.

Abu Nur said that the US offensive was being mounted
along four axes: al-Mata`im Restaurants Street to the
north of the an-Nazal neighborhood; as-Sadd street in
the east; in the west from the al-Jubayl area, and
generally along a wide front from the south of the
      city.

The Resistance has been waging grueling battles with
the US invaders who have been using weapons from the
air and on the ground. They have been pounding the
city savagely from the air, and at the same time are
using mortars and tank cannon to bombard al-Fallujah
from the land. There is hand-to-hand combat on all the
      fronts and everywhere.

Abu Nur said that the Resistance is holding firm on
all fronts so far, thanks be to God. He explained that
the Resistance has prepared very well for this battle,
but nevertheless he issued an appeal to all Muslims
throughout the world, saying: "we remember our
brothers and sisters around the world time after time,
so ask them please not to forget their brothers in
      your righteous prayers."

As to losses in the day's fighting, Abu Nur said that
so far not one Resistance fighter has been killed, but
nine have been wounded. Before the US attack, the
Resistance was able to destroy three US tanks along
with their crews. That happened when a Resistance
detachment penetrated into the ranks of the enemy. He
said that these tanks are different from those in
Wednesday's American assault. These are giant tanks
and missiles from launchers don't have any effect on
them. Only the C5K and SPG9 can damage them.

Asked about US losses, Abu Nur replied that in the
west, the Resistance destroyed 20 American tanks. As
to the southern front, Abu Nur said, "I don't know
anything about that, other than that there are thick
black clouds of smoke mixed with flames that are
visible in many places on that front.

The eastern front of the city is the one where the
Americans took their heaviest losses, Abu Nur
reported. The US aggressor troops were able to break
through the minefields. They suffered more than 45
dead foot soldiers alone there, to say nothing of
      those killed inside vehicles.

Abu Nur added, "the temperature is cold now. Even our
men can't stay in one place for more than a minute.
They have to move and run around. But in some areas
the intensity of the fighting is so high that it's
very hot as a result of the gunfire and the flames
from burning hulks of American vehicles.

Abu Nur concluded the interview with a criticism of
Mafkarat al-Islam. He told the correspondent, "I have
a big complaint against you. Other than God there is
nobody taking down our news except you. If we could
find an opportunity to get onto the internet, we
wouldn't get on except through your site. But you
didn't report one important fact about yesterday
Wednesday. That is that the Americans asked for a
truce from us. That is a point that is important to
record, because it raises the spirits of the members
      of the Resistance."

In answer to this criticism, Mafkarat al-Islam editors
commented that "because the Mafkarat al-Islam
correspondent is not able to get on the internet, he
was not able to tell Abu Nur that the website did
report that fact yesterday, Wednesday. It appears that
Abu Nur did not see that report, though he was aware
      of others."

Massive US offensive on al-Fallujah first reported.

In a dispatch posted at 3:26pm Mecca time Thursday,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that moment a
fearsome battle was under way in the south of
al-Fallujah where the center of the Iraqi Resistance
in the city is located. Shaykh Abu As`ad ad-Dulaymi,
official spokesman for the city's Resistance, told
Mafkarat al-Islam that more than 600 US tanks and
armored vehicles were involved in the massive battle.

He said that the invader troops prepared for the
battle on Wednesday when they brought in 400 tanks
from the east and brought them together to the north
of the city. These are today taking part in the
      battle.

Abu As`ad ad-Dulaymi said that the US forces had
attacked the Resistance fighters in the city from all
sides in what is known as a "compelete encirclement."
The Shaykh wanted Mafkarat al-Islam to ask all Muslims
to remember the people of the city in their prayers as
they go through the most serious battles yet seen.

Deadly Resistance car bombing on US checkpoint in
      as-Saqlawiyah.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an
explosives-laden pickup truck into a US checkpoint
under the Japanese Bridge in as-Saqlawiyah at about
7pm Thursday night. Eyewitnesses reported that the
blast destroyed two Humvees and killed five US Marines
      and wounded three others.

      Al-Qa'im.

Five US Marines reported killed southeast of al-Qa'im
      Wednesday evening.

Three Iraqi Resistance fighters in the Tiwan area,
about 80km southeast of the city of al-Qa'im on the
Syrian border, attacked a US Humvee at about 6pm
Wednesday. A taxi driver who had passed close to the
scene of the attack told Mafkarat al-Islam that five
US Marines were killed in the attack.

Two puppet "national guards" killed in Resistance raid
      Wednesday evening.

Eyewitnesses reported that Iraqi Resistance forces in
al-Qa'im on the Syrian border attacked puppet
so-called "Iraqi national guards" with Kalashnikov
assault rifles on Wednesday evening, killing two.
Another puppet guard was abducted by the Resistance
fighters. Observers thought it likely that that man
would be killed and his body dumped either far from
the city or else in al-Qa'im as a warning message to
others considering collaboration with the invader
      troops.

Land mine explosion sends message to officer in puppet
      police.

An Iraqi Resistance land mine exploded under the car
of an officer in the puppet police in the railroad
section of al-Qa'im. Local observers were of the
opinion that the blast was a warning to that officer
to resign from the puppet police and quit cooperating
      with the occupation forces.

      Baghdad.

Fierce battle in Abu Ghurayb as Resistance wipes out
      US column, shoots down helicopter.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke with Mafkarat
al-Islam in Baghdad, Iraqi Resistance fighters battled
US invader troops in the as-Samilat area of Abu
Ghurayb from about 1:20pm until 2:15pm Thursday. Two
Iraqi Resistance car bombs exploded by a column of US
troops that had entered the area. After those blasts,
Resistance fighters opened fire with RPG7, RPG8, and
C5K rockets, as well as BKC machine guns. Two US
helicopters attempted to intervene in the fighting to
rescue the beleaguered column, but the Resistance shot
one of the choppers down. The body of one of the
crewmen from the blasted helicopter could be seen
hanging in a tree. By the time the fighting was over,
the entire American column had been wiped out.
American troops later arrived to surround the area of
the attack and conceal their casualties, as is
      standard US practice.

In a report posted at 4:59pm Mecca time (5:59pm local
time) Mafkarat al-Islam reported that eyewitnesses had
reported that American troops had begun to evacuate
their corpses and demolished tanks at about 4pm
Thursday. They confirmed that none of the Americans
had survived the attack and said that about 83 bodies
had been placed in black body bags.

Three Iraqi Resistance fighters escape from Abu
      Ghurayb prison camp.

In the first incident of its kind, three Resistance
fighters have been able to escape from Abu Ghurayb
prison camp. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the break
out occurred at about 10am Thursday, Baghdad time.
Eyewitnesses said that after their escape, US troops
mounted an intensive search, but that the three men
had been able to get out of the area before American
forces sealed it off. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that
two of the escaped men were Syrian and one of them
Iraqi. They were able to kill their guard and get out
of the prison, known for the intensity of its security
      measures.

US attacks Palestinian social, medical centers,
staging mass arrests in Baghdad. Claims to find "big
      terrorists" among kindergarten staff.

A spokesman for Palestinians resident in Iraq has
reported that on Monday, 6 December 2004, US
occupation forces massed a large force of tanks,
armored vehicles, and infantry, all supported by
helicopters, to encircle the Hayfa Sports Club, the
Palestinian Red Crescent Society, and the residential
area where many Palestinians live in the Baladiyat
      section of eastern Baghdad.

American troops kept the area surrounded as they
savagely raided and ransacked the civil facilities
inside their cordon, terrorizing local residents and
staff from the afternoon until midnight. Members of
the staff of the Hayfa Sports Club and other
individuals were arrested when the American troops
      stormed into their homes.

The American troops destroyed the contents of the
offices of the Palestine Red Crescent and the Hayfa
Sports Club, including furniture and other appliances.
They confiscated more than 50 computers and American
tanks knocked down the Sports Club's walls on all four
sides of the building, having ransacked the offices
and halls of the club, as well as the doctors' clinic
in the Red Crescent building and the Hayfa Center for
      Computer Instruction.

The American troops destroyed everything that came in
their path. They destroyed the library in the Club
that contained thousands of Palestinian books. They
attacked the Association for the Woman and Child which
offers assistance to widows, elderly, and divorced
women, and children. They wrecked and destroyed the
nursery for care of Palestinian infants. The Tatars of
the modern age did not spare even the Children's Home.

The US forces wrecked the Palestine Information
Center, that specializes in studies of the Palestinian
refugees in Iraq, collecting statistics on the
Palestinian community and following up on their living
conditions and civil rights – places to live,
      education, visas, health, etc.).

After the fall of Baghdad in 2003 and the collapse and
chaos that ensued throughout the country when all the
government agencies and services ceased functioning,
the Palestinian National Board in Iraq, which derives
its authority from the Palestine Liberation
Organization, took up the task of looking after the
affairs of Palestinian communities in Iraq. This body
took on the job of trying to provide help on the
humanitarian, social service, and medical level. It
found shelter for Palestinians forcibly driven out of
their homes in the course of the chaos, intensified by
the anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiments stirred up by
some elements who came in with the invading armies.

The spokesman for Palestinians in Iraq said, "we see
no excuse for these American attacks on our
Palestinian people and their social organizations and
humanitarian and welfare agencies in Baghdad. This can
be seen only as an extension of "Israeli" aggression
against the Palestinian people inside their homeland.
The only explanation we can find for these barbaric
attacks is that the occupation forces have been
loosing miserably in their battles with the Iraqi
people and their heroic Resistance, and they are now
looking for easy imaginary "victories" in the form of
"battles" against the offices providing civil, social,
and humanitarian services to the Palestinian refugee
population – services that are provided, by the way,
in full accordance with Iraqi law and with the
agreement of the relevant governmental authorities.

One indication of the theatrical nature of these
savage raids was the announcement by an American
military spokesman afterwards that they had arrested a
large number of dangerous "terrorists" from other Arab
countries, in the east of Baghdad. The local press at
the service of the occupation regime echoed the empty
      American claims.

One day after their barbarous attacks the Americans
came back to the area claiming that they had nothing
against the Palestinians but only sought to arrest
"terrorists." Our people were perfectly aware that the
men arrested were decent people whose specialty was
providing services to the Palestinian community in the
al-Baladiyat area and elsewhere. Local people
ridiculed the US claims, saying that they came and
found "big terrorists in a kindergarten." Therefore
when the Americans offered food aid and other gifts,
the Palestinian community members defiantly rejected
such blandishments and in front of the American troops
      set fire to their "presents."

In the name of our Palestinian people in general and
the Palestinians who have lived in Iraq since the
disaster of the Zionist occupation of their homeland
in 1948 – which was caused by the same countries that
are occupying Iraq today – Britain and America – we
demand the immediate and unconditional release of all
      the prisoners.

The spokesman for Palestinians resident in Iraq
concluded: We declare that our people, who were
welcomed by the generous people of Iraq and shared
weal and woe with them for 60 years, call on
humanitarian organizations and people of good will
inside and outside Iraq and on international
organizations and the Arab League to work to secure
the release of the prisoners, and to stop America's
terror against our Palestinian people and their civil
institutions in Iraq and to work to remove the
American terror that is still keeping all our
institutions closed and that instills fear among
peaceful people day and night with its manhunts,
      raids, and arrests.

A Palestinian observer in Baghdad offered his account
of the same events and some information on their
background as follows: "After the war, some American
officers, who seemed to be trained in public
relations, succeeded in establishing good relations
with the local residents in the Baladiyat quarter of
Baghdad where Palestinians are the main residents. The
Palestinian community operates a sports club, a
kindergarten, a society for Palestinian women and a
society for handicapped children. The American
officers began to offer some services to the
residents. These were appreciated, especially after
the chaos that the Iraqi capital underwent after the
war. Among those officers were a Captain Gregson,
Major Kefri?, Major Benthor?, and others. But then
suddenly after the arrival of another officer named
Gabreal, tension overwhelmed the place. The locals
believe he is an "Israeli," because he speaks Arabic
with a Palestinian accent the way that "Israeli"
settlers on the West Bank speak. It appears that they
      were right."

The observer said, "the attack, which continued from
4pm until midnight, created a state of horror among
the men, women, and children. The next day the First
Cavalry Division headed by Colonel Robert issued a
statement, saying it had arrested what it described as
`some big terrorists.' Local residents commented
ironically that the Americans had `found big
terrorists in a kindergarten.' The observer concluded,
"we demand that all organizations concerned
investigate this incident. Apart from reaching the
truth, the people are also seeking an answer regarding
the identity of the officer whose arrival seemed
associated with the massive and savage raids on the
      Palestinian residential quarter in Baghdad."

Iraqi Resistance group responsible for downing of
      Polish helicopter Wednesday.

The Iraqi Resistance organization Jama`at at-Tawhid
wa-al-Jihad al-`Iraqi announced on Thursday that it
had shot down a Polish aggressor helicopter in the
al-Imam neighborhood of Karbala' at about 9:45am on
Wednesday, killing seven Polish soldiers who were
aboard it. The organization said it had used a Strela
rocket to bring down the aircraft. Eyewitnesses told
Mafkarat al-Islam that after their helicopter was hit,
the Polish invader troops jumped out, falling into a
garden in the al-Imam neighborhood where at-Tawhid
wa-al-Jihad fighters hunted them down and killed them
with spears and other silent weapons. The fighters
then took their identity papers and weapons.

The official Polish story was that the helicopter
crashed as a result of a "malfunction in its motor."

      Elsewhere in Iraq. . .

The American New York Times newspaper reported on
Thursday that medical experts say that one in six
American troops in Iraq are now suffering from such
serious mental problems as major depression, serious
anxiety or post-traumatic stress disorder. US
specialists say that that proportion could well rise
to one in three, and some experts predict that "the
number eventually requiring mental health treatment
      could exceed 100,000." Stephen L. Robinson, a 20-year
US army veteran said that large numbers will be
needing psychiatric help for the next 35 years.
Robinson, The New York Times reported, wrote a report
in September on the psychological toll of the war for
the Center for American Progress," an organization
that the paper described as "a Washington research
      group."

The American newspaper reported that according to
psychiatrists, the kind of fighting urban warfare that
the US troops encountered in al-Fallujah with its
      "spooky urban settings with unlimited hiding places;
the impossibility of telling Iraqi friend from Iraqi
foe; the knowledge that every stretch of road may
conceal an explosive device - is tailored to produce
      the adrenaline-gone-haywire reactions that leave
      lasting emotional scars."

The New York Times wrote that, "in no recent conflict
have so many soldiers faced such uncertainty about how
long they will be deployed. Veterans say the repeated
extensions of duty in Iraq are emotionally battering,
even for the most stoical of warriors."

The American newspaper quoted Paul Rieckhoff, who
served as a US platoon leader with the Florida Army
National Guard for 10 months, and who described combat
in Iraq, saying: "In the urban terrain, the enemy is
everywhere, across the street, in that window, up that
alley. It's a fishbowl. You never feel safe. You never
      relax."

      Bombardments around Iraq.

      ar-Rustamiyah in Baghdad.

fired five 82mm mortar rounds into the US facility in
the former headquarters of Iraqi Intelligence in
      al-A`zamiyah in Baghdad.

fired four Katyusha rockets into the British base at
      al-Mahawil, south of Baghdad.

fired three Grad rockets into the US al-Bakr base in
      Balad, north of Baghdad.

At about 11:30am Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces
fired four Katyusha rockets into the US as-Suqur base
      south of Baghdad.

At 1pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces fired five
120mm mortar rounds into the southern part of the US
      base system in Tikrit.

At about 1:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces
fired two Grad rockets into the headquarters of the US
occupation in the Republican Palace area in Baghdad,
known to the invaders as the "green zone."

At about 1:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces
fired seven 82mm mortar rounds into the joint
US-puppet "national guard" base in at-Taji north of
      Baghdad.

120mm mortar rounds into the US airbase at al-Muthanna
      in Baghdad.

At about 3:30pm Thursday, Iraqi Resistance forces five
82mm mortar rounds into the headquarters of the US
occupation in the Republican Palace area in Baghdad,
known to the invaders as the "green zone."

        Al-Anbar Province
        Ar-Ramadi.

US troops destroy internet café, arrest owner, 11 visitors in ar-
        Ramadi.

In another effort to prevent genuine news and information about the
situation in Iraq from reaching the outside world, US forces stormed
an Internet café in downtown ar-Ramadi at 9am local time Sunday
morning. (Iraqi puppet troops also raided internet cafés in the
southern city of al-Hillah. See story below under Babil Province; al-
Hillah.) Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the American troops
arrested 11 Iraqis who happened to be there at the time and took
them away to a nearby US military base.

The correspondent reported that one of those arrested in the
American raid was the owner of the internet café himself. He was
charged with what the American invaders called "cooperating with
        an `Islamic terrorist' website."

The correspondent in ar-Ramadi reported an American Marine sergeant
who gave his name as Jason saying "the arrest of the owner of the
café and his visitors followed surveillance of the activity of the
café that works to publish `terrorist' news and sometimes code words
and expressions that we thing are special signals for
the `terrorists' and a means for them to communicate with one
        another."

The correspondent noted that the Americans totally demolished the
internet café after their raid, taking with them all the computers
        that were there.

        Al-Fallujah.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops in al-Fallujah Sunday afternoon
as puppet troops go on red alert fearing more Resistance attacks.

In a dispatch posted at 3:20pm Sunday, Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that a short while before an Iraqi Resistance bomb had
exploded in the al-Jawlan neighborhood of western al-Fallujah,
killing four US troops and wounding two more.

The correspondent reported that the bomb blew up next to a US foot
patrol killing four Americans - the body of one of them completely
shredded - and injuring two more. Their wounds were described as
        mortal.

After the attack, US forces encircled the area of the blast where
they still were at the time the correspondent filed his report.

In response to the attack puppet Major General Salih al-`Ibadi, the
commander of the so-called "al-Fallujah protection force" told
Mafkarat al-Islam that "attacks in al-Fallujah are making us think
that the ghoul that we thought we had destroyed has come back again,
despite the intense security measures taken on all entrances to the
city." Lest anyone conclude from those remarks that the Resistance
was on the upsurge, the puppet officer quickly added, "but we won't
let this city or its people go back to the way it was, no matter how
        many casualties it costs us."

The correspondent reported that, meanwhile, the puppet forces had
raised the alert level to code red, the highest level of readiness.
All leaves for the puppet troops have been cancelled as the puppet
troops have been banned from taking trips to visit their families in
        Baghdad or southern Iraq.

Resistance pounds US base east of al-Fallujah Sunday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 7:15pm Mecca time, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces had
fired seven powerful Tariq rockets into the US military base in the
agricultural area east of al-Fallujah. The bombardment sent plumes
of dense smoke and flames rising into the sky over the facility.

Resistance clashes with US troops northeast of al-Fallujah Sunday
        morning.

Iraqi Resistance forces battled US occupation troops at an American
checkpoint northeast of al-Fallujah for about 45 minutes beginning
at about 10am local time Sunday morning and ending at about 10:45am.
The local correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the
        extent of losses was unavailable.

Resistance bombards US camp west of al-Fallujah Sunday afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired four 120mm mortar rounds at a US check
point near the freezers belonging to Hajji Sami west of al-Fallujah
about 4pm Sunday afternoon Mafkarat al-Islam reported.

American troops pull out of area in `Amiriyat al-Fallujah at dawn
        Sunday.

US occupation forces left the al-`Amiriyah compound south of al-
Fallujah at dawn on Sunday. They also abandoned their concentration
points at the Arab Equestrian School located in the area.

        Al-Habbaniyah.

US forces raid schools, arrest teachers, staff for not observing
        Saturday holiday.

US occupation troops raided boys and girls primary and secondary
schools in the city of al-Habbaniyah, 80km west of Baghdad on
Saturday because faculty and staff there had refused to comply with
the puppet regime's orders to observe Saturday as a holiday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying
that US troops forced the children to leave their classes as they
arrested school directors and teachers out of the classrooms.

The correspondent reported that US troops raided the Bilal al-
Habashi Primary School for Girls, the Dhat as-Salasil School for
Boys, the Muhammahd Rasul Allah Secondary School and a number of
other educational establishments, terrorizing the children whom they
threw out of classrooms, and arresting their teachers. The faculty
and staff who were arrested were taken away to the US al-Habbaniyah
base, charged with non-compliance with a puppet "government" order -
the order to regard Saturday as an official holiday.

The correspondent reported that the families of the children
responded to the American action by not sending their sons and
daughters to school on Sunday - a regular school day - and by
declaring a general strike until the school administrators and
        teachers are released.

For its part, the Iraqi Resistance issued a statement saluting the
stand of the people of the city, regarding it as an act of moral
support for the Resistance as the battle against what it calls
the "army of apes and pigs" continues.

Oil pipeline blown up twice in al-Habbaniyah.

An oil pipeline carrying Iraqi oil to Jordan was blown up north of
the touristic area in al-Habbaniyah on Sunday afternoon. The same
pipeline had been blown up the day before, Saturday during the
evening. The fires ignited by that attack were put out Sunday,
whereupon the pipeline was attacked again.

Resistance fires mortar barrage at US base in al-Qa'im Sunday
        afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired fourteen 120mm mortar rounds into the
US base known as A22 west of al-Qa'im on the Syrian border at 2pm
Sunday afternoon, local time. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the
bombardment set of numerous powerful explosions within the US base
that could be heard all over the city. The correspondent wrote that
US helicopters landed in the base and evacuated casualties. A
translator collaborating with the Americans on the base confirmed to
the correspondent that the Americans had taken casualties in dead
and wounded as a result of the attack.

        Baghdad.

Resistance bomb kills four US troops in ad-Durah early Sunday
        afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces detonated a bomb in the path of a US
military patrol in the First al-Mahdiyah neighborhood in the
southern Baghdad suburb of ad-Durah at midday Sunday.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported witnesses as saying that the blast, which
took place at 1:30pm local time Sunday afternoon local time,
destroyed a Humvee and killed four US troops instantly. The bomb
that inflicted the casualties and damage had been planted by the
side of the road leading to the al-Yarmuk School. A member of the
puppet "national guard confirmed that four Americans were killed and
one Humvee destroyed in the attack. He added that a fifth American
soldier was also slightly wounded. He had been in the vehicle behind
the one that was destroyed by the bomb.

US troops raid home of Sunni religious leader in Baghdad.

A correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad reported that US
forces and their Iraqi puppet troops raided the house of Shaykh
Harith ad-Darri, the General Secretary of the Board of
Muslim `Ulama' Scholars, the main organization representing Sunni
        religious leaders on Saturday night.

Shaykh ad-Darri is regarded as one of the most prominent patriotic
figures in Iraq whose father is regarded as one of those who ignited
a famous 1920 Revolt against the British colonialists by killing
British Colonel Gerald Leachman in the Abu Ghurayb area. (Leachman,
a British adventurer and "Arab expert" had arrived in British-
occupied Iraq in early 1920 and proclaimed that the only way to deal
with rebellious tribes that refused to submit to British rule
was "wholesale slaughter." Leachman himself was assassinated 11
August 1920. Translator's note.) The ad-Darri tribe is the largest
in Iraq and has a long history.

Shaykh Harith ad-Darri has opposed the US occupation and most
recently refused to go along with the sham "elections" held at
Washington's insistence on 30 January, making him a prime target of
        the Americans' wrath.

Two US mercenaries killed south of Baghdad Saturday.

The US embassy in occupied Baghdad announced on Sunday that two
American mercenaries (whom they described as "contractors") working
in occupied Iraq were killed when an Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb
exploded under their vehicle as they were headed towards al-Hillah
in Babil Province south of Baghdad on Saturday.

Reuters reported the US embassy spokesman who announced the deaths
of the mercenaries as saying that a third "contractor" was wounded
in the attack. All the mercenaries worked for the American security
company Blackwater Security. The American Associated Press (AP)
described Blackwater as "a North Carolina-based contracting firm
that provides security for US State Department officials in Iraq."

        Samarra'.

Resistance devastates US base in Samarra' with unprecedented mortar
        bombardment.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted what was described as the fiercest
rocket attack ever on the US occupation headquarters west of
Samarra' on Sunday. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance
forces fired about 42 mortar rounds into the American compound
starting at about 8am Sunday morning local time. The Samarra'
correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the bombardment set
huge fires raging in the camp which residents of the city could see
from the street outside without even having to go up to their
rooftops to look. The flames rose some 20 meters into the sky and
thick smoke billowed up out of the camp.

The violence of the explosions going off inside the American-
occupied camp was so great that window glass in most houses within a
kilometer of the base was shattered.

The correspondent reported that the Americans called in more than 15
helicopters to aid with evacuation of their numerous dead and
wounded. Dozens of bodies were carried out in full view of all the
city's residents. The evacuation operation alone lasted about an
hour and a half during which helicopters came and left, landed and
took off laden with the casualties.

        Balad.

Resistance shoots down US F-16 near Balad; American crew bails out.

Iraqi Resistance forces struck a US F-16 fighter bomber as it flew
over Balad, 70km north of Baghdad on Sunday. The correspondent of
Mafkarat al-Islam in the city saw the American plane with its rear
section on fire, flying at low altitude over the ground.

The Resistance group called the Salafi Squadrons of Abu Bakr
declared their responsibility for the attack, saying that they
struck the aircraft with a Russian made SAM-9 surface-to-air rocket.
Witnesses confirmed that the crew of the aircraft bailed out by
parachute near the US base that lies west of Balad.

        Ad-Dulu`iyah.

Resistance ambushes US supply convoy killing four US troops Sunday
        afternoon.

Iraqi Resistance forces attacked and destroyed two trucks loaded
with equipment and provisions for the US military in ad-Dulu`iyah
north of Tikrit. The ad-Dulu`iyah correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that the attack took place at 4pm Sunday afternoon local
time and also left four US troops dead and two more wounded.

Local residents who saw the attack reported that a group of
Resistance fighters armed with light weapons and RPG7 anti-tank
rockets attacked the US convoy of four Humvees and six trucks loaded
with supplies at 4pm as it was on its way along the main street in
ad-Dulu`iyah to the main US base in the city. The attack set two of
the trucks ablaze and killed four American troops and wounded two
        more, witnesses reported.

        Babil Province.
        Al-Latifiyah.

Resistance bomb early Sunday kills seven US troops.

Iraqi Resistance fighters began their activities on Sunday morning
south of Baghdad with a bomb attack on a US convoy in the al-
Latifiyah area, some 40km south of Baghdad. The correspondent of
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Resistance planted a high-
explosive bomb in the middle of a rough dirt road west of al-
Latifiyah. The bomb exploded under a US convoy mane up of several
vehicles, destroying one giant Bradley armored vehicle, as they are
known in Iraq, and instantly killing seven US troops inside it.

An Iraqi Resistance group called the Army of the Rightly Guided Ones
(Jaysh ar-Rashidin) issued a communiqué that they distributed at a
local mosque in which they took responsibility for the attack and
threatened the Resistance with more painful blows this month.

        Al-Hillah.

Resistance sharp shooter kills Polish occupation soldier on patrol
        in al-Hillah.

An Iraqi Resistance sharp shooter shot and killed a Polish
occupation soldier in downtown al-Hillah, Mafkarat al-Islam reported
Sunday. Witnesses told the local Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent
that a Polish foot patrol was stopped in the middle of al-Hillah on
a mission to search and comb the streets of the city looking for
bombs that are frequently planted by the Iraqi Resistance. Suddenly
one of the Polish soldiers was felled by an Iraqi sharp shooter's
bullet which struck him directly in the head, killing him instantly.

Witnesses in the area said that the attacker belonged to a
Resistance group known as the Sharpshooter Squadron and that he had
climbed to the top of a tall building on the street in order to
target the invader troops. The sharpshooter actually fired two
shots, the witnesses said. The first struck and killed a Polish
soldier; the second missed another Pole who was standing next to the
        victim.

Occupation troops then completely encircled the area and mounted a
search of the nearby rooftops within a radius of 1,000 to 100
meters, since Iraqi sniper rifles are believed to have a range of
between 100 and 1,000 meters. The Poles found nothing except a piece
of paper on a rooftop some 300 meters from where the soldier died on
which was written, "Are you waiting for them to go into your women
before your eyes?" - an apparent message directed at those who
oppose or fail to join the Iraqi Resistance.

US troops raid internet cafés in al-Hillah.

Iraqi puppet forces raided a number of internet cafés in the city of
al-Hillah south of Baghdad, arresting owners and visitors in the
establishments. (US occupation forces also raided an internet café
in ar-Ramadi, see story above under al-Anbar Province; ar-Ramadi.)

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Hillah reported that
Iraqi puppet "national guard" troops raided five internet cafés in
the city and arrested the owners and all the customers who were
using the facilities at the time - a total of more than 40 people.
The puppet troops offered no explanations for their attacks. Local
people ascribed the attack to the same motivations as that prompting
a similar raid in ar-Ramadi Sunday morning

        Mosul.

American lackey deputy police chief assassinated in Mosul.

Iraqi Resistnace forces executed the top aide to the puppet police
chief in Mosul along with two of his assistants at 9pm Saturday
night local time, Mafkarat al-Islam reported Sunday.

Residents of Mosul reported that the Resistance attacked the car of
the deputy police chief who is known for his total obedience and
loyalty to the US occupation and its puppet regime, and for his
severity in dealing with members of the Resistance and their
families in the city. He would, for example, arrest everyone related
in any way to a person suspected of being a Resistance fighter. In
response to his approach, Iraqi Resistance fighters in Mosul had to
send their wives, children, and other relatives far away from the
city to keep them out of the American lackey's grasp. The deputy
police chief reportedly grew even more vicious after meeting with
his boss, US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld on his last visit
        to Mosul.

Witnesses said that the deputy puppet police chief was found dead in
his car along with two of his aides. They were killed by gunshots to
the head and a piece of paper was found along with the bodies on
which was written a passage from the Qur'an, "And we did not wrong
them; rather it was they who wronged themselves."

        Tall `Afar.

Baby Gharib born an orphan after Americans gun down family on the
        way to the maternity hospital.

US forces killed members of an Iraqi family as they tried to get to
a hospital during the night in "violation" of the curfew imposed on
        the city by the invaders.

The correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam in the city of Tall `Afar,
north of Baghdad reported on Sunday that the local man `Abd al-
Wahid, his wife, and their 12-year old daughter were shot by US
troops at 3am local time Sunday morning as they rushed to a hospital.

Neighbors told Mafkarat al-Islam that the woman woke up to find
herself in labor in the middle of the night, forcing the family to
set out for the city hospital, taking their only daughter along with
them. The Americans had imposed a curfew on the city, making the
        trip a dangerous necessity.

A US military patrol was stopped at the end of a street along their
route opened fire on the family car with no hesitation. The father
and pregnant mother were killed instantly while American bullets
ripped through the daughter's head, seriously wounding her.

Iraqi puppet troops approached to investigate and secure the area
and finding the car, they took the dead and dying to the local
hospital. Dr. Ahmad `Abd al-Karim at the hospital reported that the
mother had been killed by the gunshots but that they were able to
surgically remove the baby in her womb safely. Dr. `Abd al-Karim
said that the baby is in good health and resting in the infants'
ward in the hospital. The surgeon who worked on the baby's older
sister Maryam, however, described her as being "between life and
death," when he spoke to Mafkarat al-Islam.

Meanwhile, local residents buried the bodies of the father and
mother amidst pledges to avenge their vicious murder by the American
        invaders.

At the time of writing, the correspondent said that Maryam was in
critical condition in Tall `Afar General Hospital. Her little
brother, born an orphan thanks to the Americans, was named
Gharib `Abd al-Wahid by one of the doctors, and that name appeared
on the announcement of his birth.

One of the local religious leaders of Tall `Afar pledged that he
would take both children after they get out of hospital and raise
and care for them, neighbors of the family told Mafkarat al-Islam.

Resistance car bomb attack on US checkpoint kills 19 Americans,
after demonstrations against US murder of family fill city streets.

In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Sunday afternoon, the correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam in Tall `Afar reported that a short while
before an Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-
laden car into a US check point in the city. The correspondent wrote
that the fighter dove an Opel car into a check point that the
Americans had set up on Sunday following demonstrations that burst
out across the city after the American murder of members of the `Abd
        al-Wahid familiy (see story above).

Sources in the adh-Dhib Brigade of the Iraqi puppet army, set up by
the Americans, said that the martyrdom attacker slammed his car into
a US checkpoint in downtown Tall `Afar, killing 19 Americans and
wounding a large number of others. Four Humvees were destroyed in
the attack, some of them totally demolished.

US forces encircled the area of the attack and the correspondent
reported that at the time of writing helicopters were coming in to
        evacuate the American casualties.

Two Americans killed in Resistance bombing in Kirkuk.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a column of four US military
vehicles in the 1 March neighborhood in northern Kirkuk at 10am
local time Sunday morning. Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the blast
disabled one military vehicle and killed two US troops and wounded
two more, witnesses said. A source in the local puppet police said
that the blast killed or wounded four Americans.

The correspondent reported local witnesses as saying that the
Resistance had planted the bomb by the side of a side street leading
to the Turcoman neighborhood. After the attack, US forces encircled
the area and imposed a curfew on the district. They also prevented
journalists from approaching the scene. The Americans also arrested
one Sunni religious leader in the city on charges of being connected
        with the attack.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a British military column in
the az-Zubayr district, 20km south west of al-Basrah. Witnesses told
Mafkarat al-Islam that the bomb was planted by the side of the road
leading to the center of az-Zubayr. The blast, which occurred at
4:30pm Sunday afternoon local time, killed two British soldiers and
moderately wounded a third. A British armored vehicle was disabled
        in the attack.

          Ar-Ramadi.

Resistance attack on US troops in ar-Ramadi leaves four American
          soldiers dead Friday afternoon.

Fighting erupted between Iraqi Resistance forces and a US patrol in
the al-Jarayishi area north of ar-Ramadi at 4pm local time Friday
afternoon. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the Resistance
fighters were armed with light machine guns and rocket launchers and
that in the course of the battle they killed four US troops and
wounded two more. The witnesses saw one of their Humvees ablaze.

After the attack, US forces imposed a curfew and launched a campaign
of searches in the area, arresting six local people on the claim that
they were involved in the fighting that lasted about half an hour.

Nine US troops killed in Resistance car bombing south of ar-Ramadi
          Friday morning.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car
into a US military column in the ath-Thaylah area south of ar-Ramadi
at 11am local time Friday morning. The ar-Ramadi correspondent for
Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captian Ziyad `Abdallah of the puppet army
as saying that the blast destroyed one Bradley armored vehicle and
disabled one Humvee. Nine US troops were killed in the attack, he
          said, and four more wounded.

US forces encircled the area and prevented any journalist or even any
Iraqi citizen from approaching the area.

The Iraqi Resistance organization known as the Base Qa`idah of the
Jihad in the Land of the Two Rivers, led by the Jordanian Islamist Abu
Mus`ab az-Zarqawi, issued a communiqué, distributed in a number of
local mosques after the attack, announced its responsibility for the
          operation.

          Al-Fallujah.

Afternoon Resistance ambush kills six US troops.

In a dispatch posted at 4:55pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before Iraqi Resistance forces
had ambushed a US foot patrol in the al-Jawlan neighborhood of
al-Fallujah. Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack left six
US troops dead and two more wounded. The corresponent reported a
source in the puppet police a saying that masked Resistance fighters
armed with medium machine guns and hand grenades attacked the US
patrol, killing six US troops and wounding two more.

Afterwards, US forces encircled the area and launched a powerful
campaign of raids on several houses and shops.

          Hit.

Resistance pounds US `Ayn al-Asad base, after which US fire wipes out
          Iraqi family of six.

Iraqi Resistance forces mounted a violent bombardment of the US `Ayn
al-Asad base west of Hit in western Iraq on Friday. In a dispatch
posted at 4:57pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, the Hit correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Captain Jawad Kazim of the puppet
so-called "anti-terrorist force" said that Resistance fighters
attacked the US base with rockets and mortars, killing six US troops
          and wounding 22 more.

The puppet captain, who entered the American base with his unit after
the attack, added that a barracks in which the US troops sleep took a
direct hit, producing a high casualty rate.

US forces used heavy artillery to return fire in the direction of the
incoming rounds. The correspondent reported that the Americans fired
15 heavy artillery shells, killing an entire family made up of a
          husband, wife, and four children.

The Resistance made no mention of any casualties in their ranks as a
result of the US fire, but said that the US attack on the civilian
house was designed to produce hostility among the local population
towards the Resistance. A Resistance communiqué, a copy of which
Mafkarat al-Islam obtained, said that the local people, however,
"understand the dirty tricks and plots of the Jews," an apparent
reference to the Zionist practice in south Lebanon and occupied
Palestine of deliberately battering civilian areas in an effort to
turn local opinion against Resistance fighters.

Resistance bomb kills three US troops Friday afternoon.

An Iraqi Resistance bomb planted in the middle of a road in central
Baghdad's al-Mu`allimin neighborhood exploded by a passing US foot
patrol at 3pm local time Friday. The Americans were on a mission to
snoop on mosques in the city during the Friday congregational prayers.
US forces with translators surround mosques and monitor sermons and if
any seem to encourage worshippers to oppose the occupation of their
country, US troops or Iraqi puppets storm in immediately and arrest
          the preacher from the pulpit.

Witnesses who live in al-Mu`allimin told Mafkarat al-Islam that the
bomb killed three US troops and seriously wounded four more. The local
residents described the blast as "extremely powerful," noting that it
shattered glass in nearby houses and left a big crater in the unpaved
          road.

The correspondent, who was on the scene where the attack occurred,
reported that US forces encircled the area and imposed a curfew on the
neighborhood. They then evacuated the bodies of their dead and
wounded. In its propaganda broadcasts beamed at the local population,
the US admitted that the attack took place, saying that a "home-made
bomb" had exploded by a foot patrol causing "damage" but as usual the
Americans concealed the extent of their casualties.

Resistance rocket attack on "green zone" drives Iraqi puppet
          "ministers" into underground shelters.

Iraqi Resistance forces bombarded the headquarters of the US
occupation and the puppet "government" in the Republican Palace area
of Baghdad – known to the invaders as the "green zone" on Friday.
Witnesses told Mafkarat al-Islam that six powerful Tariq rockets
blasted into the area at about 10am local time Friday morning. The
missiles were targeted on the former area of the arch of triumph where
the offices of the new puppet "ministers" are clustered.

A member of the puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that the attack
left dead and wounded Americans and Iraqi stooges. The puppet police
source said, "we laid out a security plan to protect the members of
the puppet "government" from such attacks, preparing shelters for them
under ground to protect them from these attacks. That's what happened
today, in fact. They spent half an hour during and after the
          bombardment in the shelters."

US forces encircled the area that was bombarded, not allowing
journalists to approach. As a result no information is available as to
the exact nature or extent of casualties.

Bodies of 17 puppet troops found in northern Baghdad.

The Iraqi puppet police announced on Friday morning that they had
found the bodies of 14 members of the puppet police and puppet
so-called "Iraqi national guard" in the Saba` Abkar area of northern
Baghdad. The collaborator personnel had all been shot in the back of
the head, execution style. Later reports put the number of dead
          collaborators at 17.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported a puppet police
spokesman as saying that the bodies were found by members of the
puppet guards and puppet police and that they had been abducted
several days ago while doing "official duties."

In a communiqué, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat al-Islam,
the Resistance organization known as the Army of the Partisans of the
Sunnah Prophet's Practice announced their responsibility for the
liquidation of the puppet troops, calling the dead, "apostates from
the religion of God who were working to block the path before the
Resistance in its battles with the occupation."

Bodies of 14 prominent Sunni civilians found murdered in northern
Baghdad. Board of Muslim `Ulama' issues statement.

The Board of Muslim `Ulama' Scholars in Iraq, the highest Sunni
religious authority in the country, issued a statement dealing with
the circumstances of what took place between the killing of 17 members
of the puppet police and the puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard"
whose bodies were found in the Saba` Abkar area north of Baghdad, and
the murder of 14 Sunni Iraqi citizens whose bodies were found in the
Kasrat Wa`tash area, 10km from the first location.

The Board statement said, "regarding the news report broadcast by
satellite TV stations today concerning the discovery of a mass grave
of 14 bodies, their hands tied and their eyes blindfolded, in the
Kasrat Wa`tash area northeast of Baghdad, we present below the names
of the deceased as supplied to us by their families.

          ad-Dulaymi, Sabah Karim Sa`id ad-Dulaymi, Jasim Ni`,mah Salim
          ad-Dulaymi, `Ammar Karim Najm ad-Dulaymi.

It is noteworthy that the survivors of the massacre declared that the
event took place at dawn on Thursday, 5 May 2005, when puppet
so-called `shock troop police" raided a part of the vegetable market
and led away the victims to an unknown location.

The bodies will be taken to their final rest in a funeral procession
beginning in front of the Forensic Medical Hospital in Baghdad
          tomorrow morning 7 May 2005.

Iraqi puppet forces today found 14 bodies in Kasrat Wa`tish, 10km from
the place where 17 bodies of members of the puppet "national guard"
          were found earlier.

According to a forensic medical report issued by al-Yarmuk General
Hospital in Baghdad, 14 dead ranged in age between 29 and 43 years.
They were Sunni and disappeared two days ago according to sources in
the Islamic Party who spoke to the correspondent of Mafkarat al-Islam
          in Baghdad.

A member of the party told the Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent that
the dead were prominent Sunni personalities in the area. Most people
refused comment on who was likely behind the mass killing, but a few
persons who asked not to be identified said that members of the Shi`i
chauvinist collaborationist Badr Brigades were responsible for the
murders. Those sources also threatened to respond to the crime.

The Resistance organization the Salafi Army of the Partisans of the
Sunnah Prophet's Practice announced its responsibility for the
execution of the 17 members of the puppet police and "national guards"
who werer found at 9:15am local time Friday morning in northern
Baghdad's Saba` Abkar area. (See story above.)

          As-Suwayrah.

Car bomb explodes in vegetable market in as-Suwayrah.

An official in the Iraqi puppet police claimed on Friday that an Iraqi
Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car into a
vegetable market in the town of as-Suwayrah, south of Baghdad on
Friday, killing at least 22 people and wounding at least 45 more. The
al-Jazeera satellite TV station reported the attack as told to them by
the puppet police official, noting that as-Suwayrah is predominantly
          Shi`i.

Resistance car bomb kills seven puppet police in Tirkit.

An Iraqi Resistance martyrdom fighter drove an explosives-laden car
into a bus that was carrying puppet policemen to their place of work
in the city of Tikrit on Friday morning. Reuters reported the puppet
police announced that the blast killed seven puppet policemen and
          wounded another 15.

Resistance pounds US base in al-Khalis early Friday.

Iraqi Resistance forces fired more than 10 mortar rounds into the US
base in the area of al-Khalis, west of Ba `qubah at 8am Friday morning
local time. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the city
reported witnesses a saying that the bombardment ignited fires in two
different places inside the base. Sirens wailed inside the
American-occupied facility minutes after the attack began. US
helicopters prowled the skies above the facility in an unusual way.
Seven Apache helicopters took off above the area around the base and
landed inside, apparently to evacuate dead and wounded.

Puppet police and "national guards" refused to disclose the extent of
casualties as a result of the attack.

For its part, the Base Qa`idah of the Jihad in the Land of the Two
Rivers issued a communiqué, a copy of which was obtained by Mafkarat
al-Islam, announced its responsibility for the attack, saying that the
bombardment inflicted many dead and wounded in the ranks of the enemy.

          Mosul.

Four US troops killed in early morning bombing in Mosul.

A high explosive Iraqi Resistance roadside bomb blew up in the
al-Islah az-Zira`i neighborhood west of Mosul at 7am Friday morning.
The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Captain Ahmad Lami of
the Mosul puppet police as saying that the blast went off as a US
column was passing by on its way to the main American base to the
north of the city. The explosion destroyed one Humvee and killed four
US troops and wounded three more, two of them "may as well be dead,"
          the source said.

          An-Najaf Province.

          An-Najaf.

Fighting breaks out in an-Najaf between US forces, Sadr militia.
Muqtada as-Sadr issues general call to arms. Jaysh al-Mahdi militia
          mobilize throughout southern Iraq.

Combat broke out between members of the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia loyal
to Shi`i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr and US occupation troops and
their puppet police and puppet "national guard" stooges in the
southern Iraqi city of an-Najaf on Friday. The an-Najaf correspondent
for Mafkarat al-Islam reported in a dispatch posted at 5:05pm Mecca
time Friday afternoon that the fighting erupted because US occupation
troops backed by puppet troops and police surrounded the tomb and
mosque of the Imam `Ali ibn Abi Talib during Friday congregational
prayer services. The Americans and their stooges blocked the
worshippers inside the mosque from leaving after the prayers to
prevent them from joining a rally called by the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia
to demand the release of Jaysh al-Mahdi prisoners.

When the Jaysh al-Mahdi insisted on going ahead with their protest
despite the armed presence of the American invader troops, Iraqi
puppet forces opened fire on the protesters, killing two Jaysh
          al-Mahdi militiamen.

Two hours later US occupation forces stormed the ancient mosque in
an-Najaf and the area known as the "home" of the Imam `Ali ibn Abi
Talib where his tomb is located. This attack prompted Muqtada as-Sadr,
through one of his aids, to issue a general call to arms of the Jaysh
al-Mahdi militia and to prepare for what he called a "protracted
battle" against the occupation and its helpers.

A source in the Iraqi puppet police told Mafkarat al-Islam that at
least two US troops were killed at the beginning of the fighting.

The correspondent in an-Najaf also reported that a number of Shi`i
puppet so-called "government ministers" in the puppet regime and Shi`i
religious leaders headed to the home of Muqtada as-Sadr to convince
him to back down from his call to arms.

The correspondents of Mafkarat al-Islam in Baghdad, Karbala' and a
number of other places in southern Iraq, meanwhile, reported that
offices of the Sadr movement in those areas were massing their militia
in preparation to go to an-Najaf to join the fighting.

Jaysh al-Mahdi hits US troops in Baghdad . . .

In a dispatch posted at 5:40pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that members of the Jaysh al-Mahdi had attacked a US
Bradley armored vehicle with RPG7 rocket-propelled grenades in
Baghdad. The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam in the largely Shi`i
section of Baghdad nicknamed "Madinat ath-Thawrah" said that the
attack totally destroyed the Bradley and killed five US troops.

The correspondent reported that four Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen
attacked the US vehicle as it was parked near the Shi`i Muhammad
          as-Sadr Husayniyah place of worship.

US forces seal off an-Najaf, prevent reporters from entering the
          besieged city.

In a dispatch posted at 6:20pm Mecca time Friday evening, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that US occupation troops at the time of writing
were surrounding the Shi`i holy city of an-Najaf on all sides, having
deployed a large number of military vehicles and giant armored
          vehicles around the city.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the American
occupation troops had prevented journalists coming from Baghdad from
getting into an-Najaf, setting a serious precedent of further
inhibiting news coverage in the country.

The correspondent noted that keeping journalists out also was an
ominous sign, seriously suggesting that the US harbored evil intent
with respect to the city of an-Najaf and its residents.

Not only did US forces prevent journalists from getting into an-Najaf,
they also broke the reporters' cameras and tape recorders that the
          reporters had brought with them.

Huge US military columns with air support converge on an-Najaf.

In a dispatch posted at 6:59pm Mecca time, Friday evening, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that massive US military columns were heading
towards the city of an-Najaf backed by Apache and Black Hawk
helicopters. The columns were approaching the city from four
directions. American troops already in the area of the city had
          earlier sealed off an-Najaf.

Within the city unusual movements were underway as Jaysh al-Mahdi
militiamen deployed in the streets and lanes of the city in numbers
that have not been seen since the battles of an-Najaf at the end of
          last year.

          Al-Kufah.

Muqtada as-Sadr urges followers to prepare for a confrontation with
          the occupation and its stooges.

In a dispatch posted at 5:59pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that a short while before Shi`i religious leader
Muqtada as-Sadr had addressed a number of his followers and commanders
in the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in the grand mosque in al-Kufah.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that as-Sadr told his
followers that if the occupation violates the truce it signed months
ago with the Jaysh al-Mahdi, that that would be the signal for the
beginning of an attack by the Jaysh al-Mahdi on occupation forces and
whoever is siding with them – in an allusion to the puppet police and
          puppet so-called "Iraqi national guard."

The an-Najaf correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam quoted sources close
to the Shi`i religious leader as saying: Sayyid Muqtada as-Sadr
directed a message to the members of the new `government', which he
called a "shadow government," saying "if you go back to fighting we
will go back to fighting, and if you violate, we will defend
ourselves." As-Sadr warned his followers that the first spark would
          set everything ablaze.

          Al-Basrah Province.

Jaysh al-Mahdi commander in al-Basrah issues warning to British
          troops, puppet police Friday afternoon.

After fighting broke out between US invaders and the Jaysh al-Mahdi
militia loyal to Shi ` religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr in an-Najaf on
Friday afternoon, the commander of the Jaysh al-Mahdi in al-Basrah
held a press conference in which he warned British invader troops and
the Iraqi puppet police against attacking the militia in al-Basrah.

Bomb targets puppet police in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:55pm Mecca time Friday, Mafkarat al-Islam
reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded at the al-Muwaffaqiyah
intersection in the southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah as a support
patrol of the Iraqi puppet police was passing. The correspondent for
Mafkarat al-Islam in al-Basrah reported a puppet police spokesman as
saying that the bomb inflicted no casualties, although it was very
          powerful, according to witnesses.

local civilians, stabbing them with their bayonets in their homes.

              Al-Hadithah.

Witnesses report 10 American Marines killed when Resistance fighters
shoot down US Chinook helicopter near al-Hadithah, Sunday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 3:19pm Makkah time Monday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that 10 US Marines were killed when Iraqi
Resistance fighters shot down a US Chinook helicopter with a Strela
anti-aircraft rocket near al-Hadithah, 236km northwest of Baghdad
              late Sunday afternoon.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Resistance
fighters fired medium weapons and a Strela rocket at a US Chinook
helicopter that had just taken off from the al-Hadithah Dam area in
              Barwanah near the city.

The eyewitnesses said that the helicopter crashed immediately and
fire could be seen burning in the remains of the craft on the
ground. US troops closed off the crash site immediately after the
attack. Then about 15 minutes later, fierce fighting erupted
between the Americans and Iraqi Resistance fighters. Although no
information on casualties from that firefight were known. Local
residents of Barwanah said confirmed that 10 US Marines who had been
aboard the helicopter were killed when it crashed.

For its part the US military initially admitted that one Marine had
died and three more were "missing" following the "forced landing" of
a US helicopter over the lake behind the dam. A later report
carried by the American Associated Press quoted the US military as
saying that four Marines had died in a helicopter "crash." In
keeping with the standard American practice of secrecy, the US
military said only that a "twin-rotor CH-46 helicopter from the 3rd
Marine Aircraft Wing" crashed near Lake al-Qadisiyah near al-
Hadithah dam, but did not admit that the helicopter had been shot
down, nor did they admit to the number of casualties reported by
              local eyewitnesses.

              Al-Fallujah.

Residents of al-Fallujah vow to keep women off the roads after US
troops resume practice of doing body searches of Iraqi women in al-
              Fallujah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:56pm Makkah time Monday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US troops resumed searches of women
in al-Fallujah on Sunday, a practice they had abandoned under
              intense pressure some time ago.

The al-Fallujah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported
eyewitnesses as saying that US trops in all their checkpoints on the
roads to and from the city had begun to search women for no stated
reason. Local residents, angry and resentful over the practice, are
now determined not to let women out for any reason even for hospital
visits if they are to be subjected to searches.

Asked about why the searches were of such import, the Mafkarat al-
Islam correspondent reported local people as saying that sometimes
the Americans have let male troops carry out the body searches and
that even when female troops do the searching, it is a deliberate
              act of humiliation.

The local residents pointed out that US troops gather in large
numbers around the places where the searches of women are going on
making residents of al-Fallujah unwilling to leave their women in
the hands of the Americans, even American female soldiers, with so
many of the male soldiers in the area – men, they say who, "display
not even the most basic level of morality."

US Marines search neighborhood in al-Fallujah Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 12:04pm Makkah time midday Monday, Mafkarat
al-Islam reported that US Marines carried out a campaign of raids
and searches in al-Fallujah, about 60km west of Baghdad on Sunday.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that US troops and large numbers of military vehicles
surrounded the al-Mu`allimin neighborhood in the middle of al-
Fallujah not letting anyone in or out. The Americans ordered all
local residents to remain inside their houses and then began
searches of many homes and businesses in the neighborhood. In the
end, however, the Americans found nothing and arrested no one in the
              sweep.

The Shi`i sectarian Jaysh al-Mahdi militia is run by Muqtada as-
Sadr, a Shi`i cleric loyal to Iran, which is seeking to extend its
regional hegemony and step into the shoes of the American occupation
              in Iraq.

              Baghdad.

Islam reported that a short while earlier Iraqi Resistance forces
had shot and killed two men in the entourage of US-installed
puppet "Iraqi President" Jalal Talibani in Baghdad's al-Mansur
              district.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that the attack took place near the embassy of the United
Arab Emirates in al-Mansur. Two officers in the pro-American
Kurdish separatist Peshmergah militia were riding in a Toyota
Landcruiser towards the famous as-Sa`ah Restaurant when armed men
wearing exercise clothing opened fire on their vehicle.

The witnesses said that the two Peshmergah gunmen died instantly.
The Resistance men then pulled the bodies from the car, found their
identity documents and placed those on the chests of the bodies in
the middle of the street for public information.

The Resistance men then hurriedly left the area. US and Iraqi
puppet forces surrounded whole the scene, where it was rumored that
one of the dead men was a relative of puppet "President" Talibani's
              wife.

Two US troops reported killed in Resistance ambush in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 2:44pm Makkah time Monday afternoon,
Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters attacked a
US military patrol in the middle of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses as
saying that a group of Resistance men armed with light and medium
machine guns attacked a US patrol on as-Safarat Street in the middle
of Baghdad, disabling a Humvee and killing two US troops and
              wounding a third.

The witnesses said hat in spite of the indiscriminate shooting that
the Americans did in response to the attack, the Resistance men were
able to slip away without losses after carrying out their ambush.
