KABUL, Afghanistan The Afghan defense ministry says eight Afghan
soldiers were mistakenly wounded by U-S led forces in a Taliban
      stronghold Tuesday.
It isn't clear whether the troops were injured by ground forces or
      aircraft.

Four of the soldiers quickly returned to duty while the others were
taken to a hospital, where two remain. All were members of newly
      American-trained Afghan army.

Since the operation to oust the Taliban and its al-Qaida allies began
in 2001, U-S forces have been involved in several "friendly-fire"
incidents. Last December, American forces drew protest from the Afghan
government and the U-N when back-to-back raids killed 15 children.

It's also believed that former N-F-L star Pat Tillman was killed by
his fellow soldiers in a situation of mistaken identity.
