Israeli occupation troops murder housewife in Nablus

Occupied Jerusalem: 6 November, 2003 (IAP News)

Israeli occupation troops on Thursday murdered a Palestinian woman in
      Nablus,
the largest town in the west Bank, eyewitnesses and medical sources
      reported.

The latest killing took place shortly before dawn when hundreds of
      Israeli
occupation troops, backed by armored personnel carriers, rampaged
      through the
old town of Nablus amid heavy gunfire.

Locals described the firing as "random and intensive."

"They were shooting at anything moving and windows. Apparently they
      wanted to
terrorize the people," said Ahmed Shunnar.

"They were behaving like street criminals."

The woman killed was identified as Imtiyaz Abu Ras, 38, and mother of
      four
      children.

A bullet hit her in the head, killing her instantly when she
      reportedly peered
from a window of her house.

The Israeli occupation army issued a terse statement recognizing
      that "somebody
      got injured or killed."

Israeli troops routinely shoot and kill Palestinian civilians but
      rarely carry
out serious investigation into the killings.

A report published two months ago in the Hebrew press indicated that
      up to 80%
of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation army since the
      outbreak of the
Aqsa intifada were innocent civilians and people who had nothing to
      do with the
      Palestinian resistance.

"Here are the disastrous proportions, in the hope that someone in
      Israel will
take notice: 80 percent of the Palestinians killed were not connected
      to armed
actions," wrote Ha'aretz reporter Amira Hass back in September in an
      article
entitled "What the fatality statistics tell us."

Since the beginning of the Intifada, the Israeli army and
      paramilitary Jewish
terrorists have killed more than 2000 Palestinians, a fourth of them
      minors and
      children.

During the same period, Palestinian resistance fighters killed as
      many as 880
      Israeli soldiers, settlers and civilians.
