213 is between 214 and 212 on the dowload page. The link is much
closer to the 212 link than the 214 link on the page.

I have a Lexmark printer as well. Could this be a problem related to
      WUHU's recognition of Lexmark printers?

          Brian,

The problems is the TeeChart ActiveX charting object that is used to
diplay the weather data graphs. It is a quite old version that I had
paid for way back when it first came out (v3.0). There was no
software update so the only resolution is to have a printer defined,
otherwise it crashes the entire application.

I would upgrade the control however now it is a bit pricey (you do
not get much of a upgrade discount). As I recall, the price was
somewhere around $250. That is hard to do on a freeware application
          budget.

My guess is that some of the newer computers with USB printer drivers
may hesitate when starting Windows. When the ActiveX object attempts
to open the default printer, and the driver is not fully loaded, the
          control crashes and burns.

            Kathy,

I am not sure which console you have but the next few paragraphs
assume you are using a WS-23XX type station.

There are a couple of methods you can use to have WUHU intercept data
            from the console.

The first is quite easy. You run Heavyweather Beta 2.0 (newer than
the version that ships on CD), you run WUHU, it monitors a file
called currdat.lst (stored in C:\Heavyweather). Heavweather and WUHU
must be run at all times otherwise WUHU will not receive the
currdat.lst file updates. That method is fine if you insist on
running Heavyweather. Personally, I think Heavyweather is a CPU hog
(can easily chew up 20-30% of your processor even when idle) so I do
            not run it.

If you run wired mode (wire between the console and the remote thermo
unit), your weather data can be updated every 10 seconds or so. In
this case, you would probably want to run WUHU in direct serial
communications mode. If you are running wireless mode (no wire
between the console and remote thermo unit), your weather data will
only be updated once per minute regardless of the software
            combination you choose.

When you run WUHU in direct serial mode, you must terminate the
Heavyweather application. When you choose this method, you must hit
Stop on WUHU so you can make changes to the settings. In the general
settings, there is a pulldown combo box. You can select "WS-23XX
Direct Serial Access", then to the right of the combo box, select the
communications port that the console is hooked up to. Once the
changes are made, you hit start. WUHU will then manage the
            communications with the console.

If you have a WS-36XX type station, WUHU does not support direct
serial communications at this time so you must run the Heavyweather
Pro application. Like Heavyweather Beta 2.0, this application will
write to the currdat.lst file once per minute. As with the first
method, Heavyweather Pro and WUHU must be running at all times.

Well, that is the long answer. I hope things are a bit clearer now.

I do believe that it will work now (except for a minor problem, I
don't think I know my ID, duh). Where do I locate my PWS ID? I've
been looking at the member settings and do not see it. I think its
KIL something... I was using my "handle" for the ID.

My gauges are showing activity. I just need to see it upload.
The problem was during the install of wuhu I chose to install in
d:\ . Since it asked I thought it would be okay to put it there.

Check out the weather for 60964 coming soon!

              Thanks again.
              Kathy

                  Kathy,

Sounds like you are almost there...

Go to the Weather Underground site and log in with your WU email and
                  password.

Once you are logged in, there is a "My Stations" link. Click it.

On the next page you will see something like:

                  Current Stations
                  ID: KMI????? | data

                  Your station id follows ID:

The password entered in to WUHU is the same as you use for your
normal WU account. It *is* case sensitive.

Kathy, I can see your data but you are right, it is not coming up when zip code is listed. I would check under the My Stations link at the Weather

                              Kathy,

I can see your data but you are right, it is not coming up when zip
                              code is listed.

I would check under the 'My Stations' link at the Weather Underground
page and verify that your zip code, city and state are entered
                              correctly there.

If everything is entered correctly and the it does not show up by
tomorrow, we will need to contact Weather Underground to resolve it.

                                  Kathy,

I think I have found the problem.

Your latitude and longitude numbers entered in the 'My Stations' page at WU may not be correct. The are actually pointing to Dearing, Kansas.

If I pull up the forecast page for Saint Anne, Illinois:

                                  http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Saint+Anne%2C+IL#History

                                  The station is not listed.

I can pull up the station history:

                                  http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KILSAINT2

When I click the 'View Full Conditions and Forecast' on the history page, I end up here:

                                  http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=37.062%2C-95.677

I believe the latitude and longitude entered for the station are not correct.

                                  Lat: N 37 ° 3 ' 45 '' ( 37.062 ° )
                                  Lon: W 95 ° 40 ' 37 '' ( -95.677 ° )

A quick way to get your latitude and longitude is to pull up:

                                  http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com

Enter your street address, city and state. When you git go you can chose either the topo or aerial map. Choose topo.

When the next screen is displayed, the URL at the top will look something like this:

                                  http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?t=2&s=11&ALon=-83.79587400&ALat=42.52875700...

Get the numbers that are associated with Alon and ALat

So the data you would need is:

                                  Lat: 42.52875700

                                  Lon: -83.79587400

Once you have the correct numbers, copy and paste them in the 'My Stations' page back at Weather Underground.

                                  ---

                                  To John,

What is interesting to note here is that when you pull up the page:

                                  http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=37.062%2C-95.677

There are stations listed from all over the country.

I suspect that there is a default latitude and longitude being loaded in the 'My Stations' new user signup??

                                    Hello :-)

Sounds like you're on the right track.

You can test which city your station is nearest to by taking the lat and lon from the Weather Station History page and entering it into the "Fast Forecast" box with "lat, lon".  You have to use the decimal version (the one in parentheses) with no degree symbol like:

                                    37.062,-95.677

When I tried this, I also got Dearing Kansas.

When you change your lat/lon for the station in "My Stations", it will take until tomorrow morning for your station to appear on the correct St. Anne pages.  This is because our databases have to update.

I think I have found the problem.

Your latitude and longitude numbers entered in the 'My Stations' page at WU may not be correct. The are actually pointing to Dearing, Kansas.

If I pull up the forecast page for Saint Anne, Illinois:

                                    http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Saint+Anne%2C+IL#History

                                    The station is not listed.

I can pull up the station history:

                                    http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.asp?ID=KILSAINT2

When I click the 'View Full Conditions and Forecast' on the history page, I end up here:

                                    http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=37.062%2C-95.677

I believe the latitude and longitude entered for the station are not correct.

                                    Lat: N 37 ° 3 ' 45 '' ( 37.062 ° )
                                    Lon: W 95 ° 40 ' 37 '' ( -95.677 ° )

A quick way to get your latitude and longitude is to pull up:

                                    http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com

Enter your street address, city and state. When you git go you can chose either the topo or aerial map. Choose topo.

When the next screen is displayed, the URL at the top will look something like this:

                                    http://terraserver.homeadvisor.msn.com/image.aspx?t=2&s=11&ALon= -83.79587400&ALat=42.52875700...

Get the numbers that are associated with Alon and ALat

So the data you would need is:

                                    Lat: 42.52875700

                                    Lon: -83.79587400

Once you have the correct numbers, copy and paste them in the 'My Stations' page back at Weather Underground.

                                    To John,

What is interesting to note here is that when you pull up the page:

                                    http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=37.062%2C-95.677

There are stations listed from all over the country.

I suspect that there is a default latitude and longitude being loaded in the 'My Stations' new user signup??

                                    ---

                                      John,

Did you happen to notice the other stations with that same
                                      Latitude/Longitude?

Do you have a default loaded when a user creates a station?

You might want to see how many are registered with that location.

I am sure the owners would like to know they are pointing off to
                                      Dearing Kansas.

                                      Thanks.

What happens is that Dearing Kansas is the center of the US. So, if an address lookup fails, we get Dearing Kansas back since the geocoder defaults to the center of the country!

                                        John,

Did you happen to notice the other stations with that same
                                        Latitude/Longitude?

Do you have a default loaded when a user creates a station?

You might want to see how many are registered with that location.

I am sure the owners would like to know they are pointing off to
                                        Dearing Kansas.

                                        Thanks.
