Did La Crosse know that a POT jack/phone jack forms merely a micro
contact at the junction? This is unlike all other contact
configurations and an extremely poor connection for data transfer, by
which, was later tackled through buffering and checking the data.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess that La Crosse did not
make these consoles 16550 compatible UART, yet used the POT's
connection without deep consideration, perhaps an executive screw up
order to reduce manufacturing costs?
