No problem Chris. I understand what you're saying. I enjoyed packet,
but all the nodes around here were changed to APRS digi's or taken off
the air. I enjoy keyboard to keyboard more than phone. I can always
see the message someone left me on the buffer, but I might miss the
contact on phone. Plus, keyboard talking frees me up to monitor other
bands at the same time.
My APRS is on 24/7. Unfortunately my buddies don't leave their's on
like that. So, I can't leave anything in their buffer, lol. The buddy
I was talking about is 13 miles from me. I avoid using the local digi
when QSOing with him. I think he uses the digi, because he's using a
yagi that is only 15-20' high.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. I just wondered if there was any
specifics that I had never seen before. I know that the SSID used to
represent specific stations, but I think that's gone out the window
