WSJT was running just fine under Lubuntu 12.10. I just upgraded(?) to Lubuntu 13.04. Now SpecJT freezes about 10 seconds after I start WSJT. Both the spectrum and the clock just stop. The main window appears to be working fine so far. I get the error messages reproduced below. Any suggestions as to where I have gone wrong would be appreciated.

      Tnx.

I'm not seeing this on the build I use (12.04.02 LTS), but then again, 12.10 and 13.04 are both very short lived versions, EOL APR-2014 and JAN-2014 as opposed to 12.4.2 LTS of APR-2017.

I've not spent allot of energy chasing bugs on short support cycle releases between LTS builds.

... I can only get it to compile using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. It appears to be very sensitive to the toolchain being used. 12.04 uses the gcc/gfortran/g++ 4.6.3

I can only get it to compile using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.  It appears to be very sensitive to the toolchain being used.  12.04 uses the gcc/gfortran/g++ 4.6.3 and that appears what the only tool that are workable.  I am trying Wheezy today and JT9 will not compile, and last night JT9 would not compile either.  Both use 4.4 and 4.5 respectively.  But Ubuntu 12.04 is good!
