      Device Channels Channels
      ------------------------------------------------------------------
      0 2 0 Microsoft Sound Mapper - Input
      1 2 0 USB Audio CODEC

      3 2 0 Creative Sound Blaster PCI
      4 0 2 Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output
      5 0 2 Creative Sound Blaster PCI
      6 0 2 VIA Audio (WAVE)
      7 0 2 USB Audio CODEC

      User requested devices: Input = 1 Output = 7
      Default devices: Input = 0 Output = 4
      Will open devices: Input = 1 Output = 7
      Audio streams running normally.

      Should I be requesting devices 1 and 7 ?

The examples in the help menu show requesting the two sound mappers.

Hi Don, You would use the USB Codec setting with an external soundcard interface such as the SignaLink USB. You presumably have this if it is showing in that

The Microsoft Sound Mapper Input and Output represent the Windows designation of the “primary” sound card ports – i.e., the ones that originally came with the computer (either built into the motherboard or plugged into a motherboard bus slot) and which Windows uses for its own sounds and the sounds generated by application software. The Sound Mapper ports are identical to one of the sound devices listed – in your case, perhaps the Creative Sound Blaster PCI. If this were the case, for example, you could request ports 3 and 5, or accept the default choice of ports 0 and 4, and you would get the same sound device either way. You would use those ports for WSJT only if you are using the original system sound device to also operate your digital radio modes.

If you have added one or more sound devices to your computer (as you have), they will show up in the list, and you will have to tell WSJT which ones to use. My guess is that ports 1 and 7, the USB Audio CODEC, are the ones you want if you are using an external USB sound device for radio connectivity.
