Re: GPS port sharing
- Bruce, I haven't used any of this software myself, but they might be what you are looking for...
com0com The Null-modem emulator (com0com) is a free [[oss|open-source] kernel-mode virtual serial port driver for Windows. You can create an unlimited number of virtual COM port pairs and use any pair to connect one COM port based application to another.
The Virtual Serial Cable is free for Amateur Radio operators and supports Windows 95, 98, 98SE, and ME.

- GPS port sharing From: Bruce Brackin

Sat Dec 2, 2006 7:16 am (PST)GM all - In discussing rover setups with WB9F, we were talking GPS for
timing. One thing I've not run across is a shareware (read, cheap) or
some Windows settings that will allow two programs access to the GPS
data stream coming into the PC through a COM port (or USB/serial). I
mostly use NNEATime for WSJT but on rare occasion, I'd like to have my
map/route program going as well. There are several commercial programs
available but prices are a little steep for my (and others) limited and
intended use. Most of the programs seem to setup some virtual com ports
to allow sharing. A number of searches has not turned up much other
info. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Any good low level
programers in the group?
Thanks - Bruce, N5SIX
