Just to share my experience with slow computers. As WSJT is 32 bit
software I do not think it will work on Win 3.11. But 400+Mhz machine is
pretty good for all versions of WSJT.
I used for a long time, up to WSJT ver. 4.9.8, IBM Thinkpad TP760XL a
166MMX 32Mb RAM with Win95. It still works great on FSK441 and JT6M and
almost usable on JT65b with all wsjt 4.x.x versions. I upgraded RAM to
88Mb for the last mode. WSJT 5.x.x does not work on Win95 with me,
though some one reported success on the ON4KST chat.
Right now I use IBM T600X notebook which is PIII 500Mhz 192RAM and W2K.
I am satisfied with WSJT 5.x.x on all mods including JT65b which needs
resources. Win XP was tested and it worked nice but W2K is much faster.
Both computers were in use during our last MS expedition to the very
rare KN41 and KN42. We made 200 completed QSOs with 100W output on both
Few days ago I aligned software for a friend of mine on Compaq Armada
PII 266Mhz with 128Mb RAM and W2K. WSJT 4.9.8 and WSJT 5.9.4 were
tested. Ver 498 worked UFB on all modes. Ver 594 worked very nice on
FSK441 and JT6M. It was usable for JT65b QSOs but definitely needed more
power when in Monitor mode on JT65b. Actually the problem was with
Aggressive decoding. If switched off it was usable too.
