      Jim,

Most likely cause is bad clock sync. Your computer's clock should be +/-1 second or so to true time.

There are 3 possible methods to correct your computer clock:

You can use one of the time synchronization programs mentioned throughout this group or in the WSJT-X documentation. You did not say which Operating System you were using, but Windows default time keeping is far from good enough for the WSJT modes. Programs for Windows include Meinberg NTP and Dimension 4 among others. You'll need an active connection to the internet for any of these.

If you don't have an active connection, then you would need something like a GPS receiver or WWV clock with computer interface.

Lastly, you can try setting the clock manually to WWV. Depending on the CPU load for your computer, this may be good enough for days, hours or minutes. If you have an older computer this might not be a valid solution.

      Hope this helps.

Neither JT65 nor JT9 are decoding. Waterfall looks fine. Full 3 kHz bandwidth. Nice, clean signals, but no decode

Yes, the recorded samples decode, but nothing from the radio.  Please note DM780 runs fine decoding RTTY, PSK31,, PSK63, Feld Hell etc.
