Subject: [HamApps] Remote operation using Apple iPad and AirDisplay app

      Hello all,

I'm enjoying the combination of JT-Alert with WSJT-X that I'm spending far too much time in my upstairs shack and not enough time downstairs or outside in the garden enjoying the sunshine.

Yesterday, I tried an experiment using my Wi-Fi from my computer in the shack which is running the software and is connected to my HF radio and linking to my Apple iPad using an app called 'AirDisplay'.

This app lets you either 'mirror' the screen of your computer or use the iPad as a second screen.

Choosing the iPad as a second screen and not utilising the 'Retina display' option of AirDisplay I dragged across both the main JT-Alert and WSJT-X displays together with the 'Wide Graph'.

These fitted perfectly the iPad screen.

I was able to carry the iPad anywhere in the house or my garden all being within range of the Wi-Fi from my shack.

I was able to not only monitor band activity but was also able to carry out JT65 or JT9 QSO's just using the iPad, it worked really well from the garden!

      The only negatives were minor:

      1. No sound from the iPad of the signals
      2. When I finished my QSO the logging screen popup appeared on my main computer in the shack and doesn't appear on the iPad because it isn't 'docked' or available to view and drag across onto the iPad earlier.

That option could maybe a 'feature request' for Laurie?

However, what I can say is that finally I can escape the shack and still play radio!
