      The black line is the cathode. That is connected to the positive side if
      you want the diode off like across a relay. The cathode is connected to the
      negative voltage if you want the diode on like in a logic circuit.
      This diode symbol ->|-, the bar | is the cathode and the anode is the arrow >.
