414DIGITAL DX NEWS FROM VK 6 April 2003
- Apr 5, 2003FSK441
A good role up with the following stations involved this weekend - VK1WJ,
VK2IE, VK2FZ, VK2AKR, VK2AWD, VK2JKK, VK3HY, VK3AFW, VK3AXH, VK3FMD, VK3KAI
There have been some timing problems in both Melbourne and Sydney. Ian VK2EI
notes that the program "WinTick" works well for setting time from the web.
Ian, VK2EI, asks about the best settings from FSK441. In my view the
settings are not critical but for activity sessions it is necessary to keep
the tolerance wide to cope with variations of frequency between stations -
the default values of W>40, S>1, ST>-2, QRN=5 and Tol =400 work well.
Next weekend will be Type A on both Saturday and Sunday.
Ron VK3AFW and Guy VK2KU have run a series of tests between Melbourne and
Sydney with typical signals of -17 dB +/-4 dB.
The weekday morning tests continue with VK7MO (144.225) beaming Melbourne
from 0745 to 0845 and Mallacoota/Sydney from 0845 to 0830.
LORD HOWE DXPEDITION
A reminder that VK7MO will operate from Lord Howe Island, VK9, from 3 to 10
May on both JT44 and FSK441 on 2 metres, 70 cms and 23 cms. If you need VK9
and are within 2000 kms of Lord Howe Island this is your opportunity.
