Re: foul weather day
- Plans to do some trail building were pretty much dashed by therain, so headed to some Delta Co. haunts for some birding.A few highlights:Confluence Park – a small pod of D/C cormorants, 2 avocets, 1 eared grebe, 1 blue heronFruitgrowers Res. 70 American pelicans, 50 western grebes, 6 blue herons, 1 kingfisher, 1 pied-bill grebe1 large white egret – much of what I saw was very far off along the east shores of the reservoir.many swallows of several varieties cruising over the lakes and river.BillHi all,--This week was the start of school groups (4th graders) visiting the Ridgway State Park banding station. We've luckily had enough birds to demonstrate banding to all the groups, but just barely. Numbers have been low; we have yet to break 100 new birds (we will tomorrow.. we're currently at 98 newly banded birds). Highlights from this week include 2 Northern Waterthrush, a Western Tanager, and a Black-headed Grosbeak.
