      Hi all,

This week was the start of school groups (4th graders) visiting the Ridgway State Park banding station. We've luckily had enough birds to demonstrate banding to all the groups, but just barely. Plans to do some trail building were pretty much dashed by the
rain, so headed to some Delta Co. haunts for some birding.
        A few highlights:
Confluence Park – a small pod of D/C cormorants, 2 avocets, 1 eared grebe, 1 blue heron
Fruitgrowers Res.  70 American pelicans, 50 western grebes, 6 blue herons, 1 kingfisher, 1 pied-bill grebe
1 large white egret – much of what I saw was very far off along the east shores of the reservoir.
many swallows of several varieties cruising over the lakes and river.
