Speculating, correctly as it turns out, that a coming rain storm last evening might ground a few migrants I headed to Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig. There weren’t a lot of birds but there was a fair assortment of warblers, including Northern Waterthrush (1), Townsend’s (1), Wilson’s (several), Orange-crowned (1), Yellow (several) and MacGillivray’s (1). Otherwise, a juvenile Calliope Hummingbird was among the usual assortment of summer residents. It was a nice kickoff to fall migration.
