      Greetings, 
      The last two nights have been great for nighthawks just west of Nucla.  Between 300 and 500 hawks were present each evening flying very low feeding over the ponds and hayfields which have just been cut.  The nighthawks pass over the road, West 5th Ave, very low and several Lesser Nighthawks can be found among the Common Nighthawks. 
       
      I am convinced that Lesser Nighthawks breed in the state.  Finding a nest may be quite another thing.  In the 1990s Lesser Nighthawks were in Grand Junction and there are a few other locations in southwest Colorado where LENI have been reported mostly in spring and early summer.
       
      This weekend in Arizona lowlands where Lesser Nighthawks do nest, the temp is going to be 117 degrees.  Can one blame them for being up here.
