Montrose Raptor Field Trip
- Just a quick run down on the Montrose raptor field trip that took place earlier today.It was a clear, calm and mild February day – great for birding.The morning started out slow – birding east of town was tough. Stopped at the great hornedowl roost, but no owls at home. Bostwich Park turned out to be more productive, then sightingspicked up for the rest of the day. Thanks to the 9 participants, especially Geoff Tischbein for hisexpertise.Raptors seen:6 Rough legged hawks22 Red tailed hawks7 Bald eagles4 Northern Harriers7 Kestrels4 Golden eagles1 Sharp shinned hawkBest non-raptor – Common snipe.Bill Harris
Bill Harris will be leading the Herb Probasco Memorial Montrose Raptor Field Trip on Saturday February 22. Meet at 9 am at the Montrose downtown City Market. The field trip will be limited to 12 participants, so register as soon as possible by calling Bill at 249-8055. The trip is planned to last until 1 p.m., but can go longer if some are interested.
