Just a quick run down on the Montrose raptor field trip that took place earlier today.
It was a clear, calm and mild February day – great for birding.
The morning started out slow – birding east of town was tough.  Stopped at the great horned
owl roost, but no owls at home.  Bostwich Park turned out to be more productive, then sightings
picked up for the rest of the day.  Thanks to the 9 participants, especially Geoff Tischbein for his
      expertise.

      Raptors seen:

      6   Rough legged hawks
      22   Red tailed hawks
      7  Bald eagles
      4  Northern Harriers
      7  Kestrels
      4  Golden eagles
      1 Sharp shinned hawk

      Best non-raptor – Common snipe.
