I had a great egret fly over Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig last night. I’m not sure where it was coming from or going to. There was also still at least one northern waterthrush at the park and possibly two.
We have also been watching two family groups of burrowing owls on mine reclamation for the past week. One family group has a total of seven (five young), the other group has at least four total. They apparently nested in Wyoming ground squirrel burrows, possibly after hay was cut in early to mid July.
