Checked a few Delta County lakes and ponds this afternoon. "Best" bird was a Common Loon at Confluence Park. No goldeneye period, not even a common. It does seem like the ducks are waiting for winter.

Payne-Siding Pond - Mostly Ring-necked Ducks and American Coots, also American Wigeon, Ruddy Ducks, 2 Western Grebes, Redheads, 2 Canvasback, and 1 Eared Grebe

Confluence - the loon, coots, Canada Geese (no cackling), Common Mergansers, PB Grebe, 9 Great-tailed Grackles, 2 Killdeer, 1 GB Heron

Cheney Res (Mesa Co.) - Lesser Scaup, Bufflehead, Eared and PB Grebes, lots of coots, 1 Ruddy Duck

Sweitzer - decoys and hunters and a few coots

Did see about 40 Sandhill Cranes in an ag field east of the Hamilton tract of the Escalante SWA.

Also, the White-throated Sparrow seen at the end of Oct. has been back in my yard the past four days. Didn't see it today though.
