      Spent yesterday (April 7) birding Gunnison county and today birding the San
      Luis Valley with my father Leon. The weather was pretty crummy both days but
      lots of birds to be seen. The highlights are as follows.

      April 7, 2007 - Gunnison Co.

      Blue Mesa Res.

      Common Loon - breeding plumage
      Common Goldeneye
      Common Merganser
      N. Shoveler
      Lesser Scaup
      Mallard
      Bufflehead
      Gadwall
      Ruddy Duck

      Near Powderhorn

      Golden Eagle
      Peregrine Falcon - 2

      Mill Creek - West Elks

      Three-toed Woodpecker
      Red-naped Sapsucker
      N. Pygmy Owl

      April 8, 2007 - San Luis Valley

      Monte Vista NWR

      Sandhill Cranes - only 3 left
      Snowy Egret - 7
      American Avocet - 5
      Short-eared Owl - 2
      Rough-legged Hawk - 1
      Marsh Wren - many
      Yellow-headed Blackbird - 1
      Sage Thrasher - many

      Alamosa NWR

      Cinnamon Teal - many
      Porcupine - not a bird, I know!
