      > RAW SET CATCHES ON FIRE DURING TESTS
      - For the amount of pyro and fire WWE uses every week for their live
television broadcasts, accidents are very, very minimal to almost non
existent. Yesterday however there was a fire mishap an hour or so before
RAW started during rehearsals that required the whole building to be
evacuated. While performing a test on one of the many fire displays, the
RAW set inside the U.S. Bank Arena caught fire. The fire was controlled in
a timely manner but the accident resulted in a delay in letting fans in to
take their seats. After everything was cleared, fans were allowed in and
the show started on time at 8PM EST. The news of the fire was announced on
RAW by both Cole and Lawler and a video of the accident was shown during
      the live RAW broadcast.

      > NEW SMACKDOWN GM TO BE ANNOUNCED THIS WEEK
      - A new Smackdown General Manager will be announced during tonight's
tapings which will air this coming Friday on SyFy. The news was announced
during last night's Monday Night RAW and the man who will be appointing
the new General Manager will be none other than WWE Chairman and CEO Vince
McMahon. McMahon will make a rare Smackdown appearance a week after he
appointed AJ as the new RAW General Manager. Back at WrestleMania earlier
this year, Teddy Long and his team lost to the RAW team which enabled John
Laurinaitis to gain control of Smackdown as well.

      > RANDY ORTON RETURNS
      - Former WWE and World Heavyweight champion Randy Orton made his return to
WWE television yesterday on RAW following a sixty day suspension stemming
from his second positive test for illegal substances as part of the WWE
Wellness Program initiative. Sporting a new haircut, Orton received a
massive pop from the crowd at the U.S. Bank Arena and destroyed Heath
Slater, who minutes before challenged any current WWE Superstar to face
him like he did with the WWE Legends leading up to RAW 1000. Orton was
suspended at the end of May, missing two pay-per-views and the important
RAW 1000 episode which took place from his home town of St Louis,
      Missouri.

      > PUNK TO DEFEND TITLE AGAINST CENA AND BIG SHOW AT SUMMERSLAM
      - The WWE title match for SummerSlam was decided on RAW yesterday with CM
Punk having to defend the title not against one, but two opponents. John
Cena and Big Show were wrestling to determine the number one contender
during yesterday's main event but Punk interfered, knocking out Cena and
then delivering his kick to the Big Show. After Punk proclaimed that both
of them were losers, RAW General Manager AJ came out and announced that
both of them are actually winners and both of them would be facing Punk at
SummerSlam for the WWE title. Punk got into her face and demanded that she
shows him respect but AJ just acted goofy in front of him, smiling and
      shaking her head.

      > WWE APOLOGIZES FOR A.W.'S KOBE BRYANT COMMENT FROM RAW
      - RAW announcers Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler were forced to make an
apology on the broadcast yesterday following a comment that was made by
Abraham Washington during the match between Titus O'Neil and Kofi
Kingston. As O'Neil was beating on Kingston, A.W., claimed on his
microphone that O'Neil "is like Kobe Bryant in a hotel in Colorado, he's
unstoppable!" The remark was obviously regarding the story from 2003 where
NBA Superstar Bryant was accused of sexual assault after having sex with a
hotel employee in Colorado. The case was dropped after his accuser refused
to testify and a civil suit was later filed and settled out of court.
Speaking to TMZ.COM, a WWE spokesman said that the company immediately
apologized after the commercial break for A.W.'s inappropriate comment.
"WWE has taken appropriate action in the matter," the spokesman said,
although it wasn't revealed what actions were taken.

      > MCMAHONS REGISTER HALF A BILLION DOLLARS IN LOSS FROM STOCKS
      - The Stamford Advocate newspaper is running a story today regarding the
McMahon family's wealth and the smackdown the WWE stocks is currently
receiving on the New York Stock Exchange. The article states that since
McMahon first ran for Senate two years ago, the WWE stock price went from
$18.64 to just $7.86 a share, costing the McMahon family a loss of half a
billion dollars. The market cap for the company also was slashed in half,
from $1.27 billion to $585 million. "You can argue that once she decided
to run for office, they tried to clean up the WWE," Euro Pacific Capital's
Peter Schiff said. "They took out some of the more sexual stuff and they
might have lost their appeal." The newspaper tried to get an interview
with Linda McMahon and while it was scheduled for later this week, the
campaign team canceled it after they found out it would be about WWE.
"Linda no longer works for WWE," her campaign spokesman said. "If you want
to talk about the company, you should call them."

      > WWE STUDIOS MOVIE TO PREMIERE AT TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL
      - The upcoming WWE Studios movie No One Lives will be making its debut at
the Toronto International Film Festival in September, the first WWE
Studios production to debut at the festival. The movie - featuring WWE
Superstar Brodus Clay - will premiere at TIFF's Midnight Madness, which is
part of its Special Presentations and Galas programs. TIFF runs from
September 6 to 16. The horror movie is about a ruthless criminal gang
which takes a young couple hostage and goes underground to an abandoned
house in the middle of nowhere. When the captive girl is killed, the
tables are unexpectedly turned and the gang finds itself outsmarted by an
urbane and seasoned killer determined to ensure that no one lives. Joining
Clay in this movie are Luke Evans from Clash of the Titans and Immortals,
Adelaide Clemens from Silent Hill, Derek Magyar, Lee Tergesen from Texas
Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, and America Olivo from Friday the 13th.

      > LAURINAITIS RESIGNS FROM POST OF SVP OF TALENT OPERATIONS
      - Today WWE announced that John Laurinaitis has resigned from his post as
Senior Vice President of Talent Operations, with his name also removed
from the WWE Corporate website. While he's no longer part of the executive
team, Laurinaitis is staying onboard as an agent, or as they call it now,
a producer, helping the Superstars and Divas layout matches and come up
with finishers. Laurinaitis held a top position within the WWE ever since
he came over from WCW in 2001 but the emergence of Stephanie McMahon and
her husband Triple H slowly ate away bits and pieces of his power in the
company. Laurinaitis - the brother of Road Warrior Animal - enjoyed
several months on WWE television as the RAW General Manager before being
fired from his on screen position at the No Way Out pay-per-view in June.
