> REASON FOR SMACKDOWN! MOVE CONFIRMED
- WWFE today announced that the reason Smackdown! will be live this
Tuesday instead of a taped show on Thursday is because the MTV awards
show. However, the reason WWFE gave is that Viacom requested that the
WWF move the show to Tuesday not to draw viewers away from the awards
show. It's more likely the other way round but that's the reason WWFE
gave. Smackdown! will also air live in Canada on The Score Television
Network, and will be repeated on The Score also in Smackdown!'s usual
timeslot on Thursday.
> TWO LAYOFFS
- Jim Ross reported in his Ross Report today that Gangrel and the WWF
have parted ways, while Chaz' contract will not be renewed once it
expires in January 2002. Both have been off TV for a long time, with
Chaz last seen as part of the Lo Down tag team. Gangrel has been injured
for the better part of the past two years and hasn't been used on TV for
God knows how long!
> TRIPLE H IN TORONTO
- You can add The Game Triple H to be in Toronto this coming Monday for
the 'Thank You Toronto' pep rally. The 'Thank You Toronto' is a cover up
for the announcement of WrestleMania 18, which will be taking place at
the SkyDome next March. This rally will be at the Nathan Phillips Square
from noon till 2PM and is opened to all public. The Score in Canada will
be airing this announcement live starting at noon.
> OFF AIR NOTES FROM SMACKDOWN!
- Wrestling-Online Newsletter staff member The Einstein was at
Smackdown! this week and sent in the following notes. Nothing much
happened wrestling-related wise when cameras weren't rolling. During the
Crash vs Essa Rios match, TE was showing the WWF Panda logo which we
recreated a few weeks ago, but one of the sound guys at ringside told
him that he couldn't show the sign or it would be taken away! For those
of you curious, the spoof WWF vs WWF Panda logo is at
in the One Timers section.
During the Spike/Molly vs Ivory/Helms commercial break, a hot chick
wearing a red top was teasing everyone by lifting up her top and
dancing. Too bad she didn't go all the way up! Also during the break of
Tajiri vs Lance Storm, a fight broke out in the upper deck but
everything was taken care of. TE said that of all the events he's been
to, Michigan fans are the loudest and rowdiest fans behind those of Las
> SMACKDOWN! RATINGS
- Smackdown! received a poor 3.9 rating with a 7.0 share, down 0.4 from
last week's 4.3. Bad week for WWF TV! Tough Enough ratings are still not

>> JON'S WRESTLING JABBER
By Jon Beck, [jon@...
My goodness. I don't know whether to laugh or shoot myself. It's been
three weeks since I have written anything for the newsletter, largely
because of personal issues. So before I get to my current topic, let me
just take a paragraph or two to briefly explain my situation. I've got
two words for ya.
I'm entering my junior year of high school, which most likely makes me
the youngest member of the staff. I spent my entire freakin' summer
reading novels by Mark Twain, Henry David Thoreau, and Virginia Woolfe.
After frying my brains over a book that my mother read her sophomore
year at a two-hundred level class in college, I was then assigned to
write a three page report on each book, dealing with two of the three
1. What constitutes a meaningful life or existence
2. The importance of society
3. How the nature of society affects and shapes the individual
As you can likely assume, these readings were nothing short of a pain in
the royal gluteus maximums.
Can you say stress, anyone?
So, that would explain my lengthy absence. I don't know how often I'll
get to write one of these things, but this is definitely not the last
column you will read from me, unlucky for you.
Without further ado, I'm going to make my next statement on which I will
base the remainder of this intriguing piece of gibberish I call a
wrestling column. Ready?
Ok. School sucks.
I am forced to experience the drama of the WWF-dominated industry of
wrestling by a unique little toy that sits here on my desk, using a
handy little program known as Internet Explorer (for all you computer
illiterate jabronies out there). Where's the justice in this?!
Ok, so I admit. My toils and troubles are partly my fault, since one
would agree that it would better benefit an individual not to stay up
late hours on Monday night only to get up at 5:30 the next morning.
It is things like these that make me relish Christmas Break, in which I
get to savor one week of action on the sorry-excuse-for-a-network
Network, TNN. The benefit? You humanoids don't have to sit through
drudgery once a week anymore.
Ah well. My loss is anyone else's gain, it would seem. Nobody said life
is always a bed of roses anyway (and by the way, if you have evil
thoughts about this edition of the column creeping into your pitiful
excuse for what you would call a brain, then screw you).
Sorry, I just had to get that one in there somewhere.
Anyway, a short recap on RAW from what I read off of WWF.com:
-- I think that the Angle/Austin feud is shaping out nicely. It seems
to me, though, that they could've come up with a better angle (no pun
intended) for the Austin/Angle feud than to have Austin steal his
friggin' gold medals. Haven't we seen this before?
-- I am amazed at Vinny Mac's decision to put the WCW title around the
waste of The Rock. Such a move destroys the credibility of the WCW
talent and the work rate of a superb athlete such as that of Booker T.
Though I must admit, it looked like a darn good match at SummerSlam.
-- I can't wait for the Edge/Christian split. They are building up
momentum that is gearing up to be nothing short of a volcanic eruption.
This is going to be a good one, folks.
Well, that's a rap for today, people. Until next time, here ends the
jabber. Before I go, though, I'm going to take a page out of the book of
all our other "esteemed" columnists of this newsletter, ending with a
question. This week's question is the following:
"Do you think putting the WCW title around the waste of The Rock was a

server. Feedback from the readers and my responses will be posted in the
next column (For future references, I only pick those that are utterly
stupid or ignorant in content, so be sure to send in plenty of those,
and allow me to make your monkey ass famous).
Until then, I'm Jon, and to again steal a page out from the book of one
of our esteemed writers...
"It has, as usual, been your pleasure."
Now, go and do something productive.
