- Jul 20, 2005Sad as I am to see inactivity in boards devoted to Disney park past
glories, I feel it incumbent to just make my own post that will
prolong this group for a time.
World Of Motion is the kind of attraction I really miss most in
today's Disney Parks. The committment to use AA technology to
create a truly intoxicating visual experience as you moved at a
leisurely pace that just made you want to get off your vehicle and
lose yourself in the sets. I know I felt that way everytime we
came upon the turn of the century traffic tie-up.
This was the kind of ride that represented a step-up from Pirates Of
The Caribbean and Haunted Mansion in this kind of ride, and sadly,
because it was an attraction that was being historical and
informative, that meant it didn't get to live as long amidst the
lack of appreciation that exists for good AA and Omnimover style
attractions today.
When I visited EPCOT last year for the first time since 1993, and
thus the first time that there was no WOM there, I made a point of
not going on Test Track or Mission Space, just to demonstrate
how "thrill rides" of the kind they produce today at the expense of
what the essence of a Disney attraction was all about in WOM and
Horizons, is never going to be my idea of how to have a fun at a
Disney park.
