From the Home of  Rich  & Peggy Martin

Today, candor compels us to admit that our vaunted two-party
system is a snare and a delusion, a fraud upon the nation.
Our two parties have become nothing but two wings
of the same bird of prey...Pat Buchanan

I never thought I’d see the day that my country would be taken over by the enemies within. It didn’t matter which party was in place; we've always had a few nuts, but there’s no way a majority of our elected officials could possibly be socialists. I admit I can’t figure out why so many of them have voted to tie up our natural resources forcing us to run up the natl debt to buy foreign oil or why they moved our factories to the “economic” side of the globe, or why they tell bald face lies about global warming. But they’re so much smarter than I and have access to so much more information. I must be missing something.

When 8 Republicans joined 212 Democrats after listening to the minority leader John Boehner spend an hour+ reading the highlights of the 300 page amendment released at 3:09 AM the day of the vote, I had to reconsider my beliefs. Right there on CSPAN for anyone with a TV set to see and hear. You had to feel sorry for the poor Congressmen who already had to spend a Friday in Washington who didn't have their own plane to fly home.

Total control of 16% of the economy on top of the takeover of the financial industry, not to mention the GM/Chrysler thefts. Taxes on health benefits---except union healthcare programs, of course. Not to mention the planned takeover of the medical industry, the bill they heard read creates all kinds of new bureaucracies by departments with funny names. For instance, they had a provision giving the FEDS the power to regulate all home sales in the country, and bring them up to Calif (earth quake standards?).  And fedl regulators will check homes out to make sure they are up to fedl standards BEFORE the house can be sold. Where’s the Tenth Amendment when you need it?

Despite this evidence, I still don’t believe there are 220 socialists in the House of Reps.  I may be wrong. I would only expect that concentration of socialists in the halls of the great institutions of education, like Harvard, Berkeley and Yale. You know, inexperienced book-learned people that don’t understand capitalism and think it would be better to have a central planning govt.

Hmmm. Maybe I’m on to something. Those 220 Congressmen who just voted to turn over our energy in the Executive Dept aren’t socialists and certainly not dumb. However, no one can deny there are at least 220 Congressmen who are greedy and power hungry to the point of being corrupt.

Oh, I almost forgot, there was at least one Democrat congressman who said he was "forced" to vote for the bill. We've heard these complaints before, such as when banks were forced to accept TARP money Vs their better judgment. Maybe they think their constituents won't hold their vote against them because they didn't have the courage of their conviction.

Unfortunately, I fully expect to find a plurality of same in the upper chamber.

Certainly the GOP led by Bush were part and parcel to this transition from traditional values, however, the transfer of power wasn’t Jan 20, 2009. It was 2 years earlier, in 2007, when the Democrats took control of the purse strings, shutting Republicans out of conference meetings. Just keeping the record straight.

If there's a need to prove that the fedl govt has lost touch and overreaches, you need go no further than a warning to US coming from the EPA. When the EPA learned that some citizens were planning to symbolically dump tea bags in a nearby waterfront, they responded with a threat of fining anyone who did. Forget the memory that our founders dumped tons of someone else's tea in Boston Harbor. On this point you need to know tea is not a pollutant. The EPA says it is illegal because it discolors water! Overreach!

US Pulls out of Iraq (urban areas)
Do you remember the argument about setting a date certain on a pull out? Once  the date is set, the enemy lays low until the U.S, forces withdraw and then attacks a weakened, deserted target. If applicable, it explains why hostilities have shrunk in recent months. What's the chances of increased military aid to the Shi-ites from Iran?

       Food for thought
4 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices think fireman should be promoted based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character.

      The conundrum
Here’s the problem, the USG has repeatedly violated the Constitution and their sacred vows. They have trampled the Great Document to death. It is therefor null and void under common contract law. Their unconstitutional behavior makes them domestic enemies of the Constitution.

All military recruits sign an oath when entering the service.

Officers, upon commission, swear to the following: I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter.
Note the difference from the one I signed when I joined the Navy as an enlisted man. “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
(Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

      Rank: Veteran
      Serial no. 528-82-68

To tell the truth, when I took the oath I didn't consider its importance, but it was soon drilled into me. I never thought of it as "my job", as I hear so many say today. I did my duty as a free citizen of the United States of America. And today is no different. I haven't been relieved of my sworn duty. As a proud veteran, who did his duty, I will keep my oath and I will defend the Constitution from foreign and domestic. It had, as the woman in the cancer TV ad would say, no expiration date on it.
I pose this challenge to my fellow veterans. Are you doing your duty?

      CALIFORN-IOU - Avoiding bankruptcy.
They really don't want to be bailed out by the USG after they saw what happened to Bank of America and GM after they accepted bail outs. If I were the guv, I'd be petitioning Washington to get it's damn hands off Calif and drill my way out of it. On the other hand, perhaps they prefer serfdom.

      CUTTING DOCTORS FEES
The prez says he’d like to model doctors fees based on the Texas model, but he promised the ABA trial lawyers not to set limits on malpractice awards which drive up malpractice insurance. Then they criticize doctors for performing defensive surgery to reduce their exposure to a law suit. Malpractice jury awards in Texas were severely limited in the Clinton years to save Workmen's Comp. Besides paying lower malpractice insurance premiums, it also reduced the number of unnecessary medical care procedures done to protect the doctor from ABA frivolous law suits. Texas welcomes doctors nationwide. California, RU listening?

      UNEMPLOYMENT BAIL OUT STRINGS
I'll tell you true, I took a financial hit when Gov Perry turned down the USG bail out money for the unemployment because of the strings. I'd be $4,900 richer today, before paying the Bill Clinton tax-the-rich job seekers tax. Remember that?

      JOBS
Texas is expecting a job-boom in the next few years when other states are saddled with the strings of paying unemployment benefits to temporary help.

      F-16 Fighting Falcons
4,400 F-16's have come off the assembly line, now down to 2,600 employees, but orders from foreign nations still coming in. Currently negotiating sale of 126 Falcons to India. F-14's and 15's being decommissioned. The F-35 strike-fighter is scheduled to replace all of the above, but it is costly, maybe too costly, for a nation that just pissed away a couple of trillion dollars. Currently bickering between how many engines to buy. Govt wants one, Lockheed prefers 2 "just in case."

      REMEMBER WHEN…
…  all we had to worry about was mutual nuclear destruction.

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO, HMMM IN THE NIGHT
I know global warming is scary, but so was acid rain, remember? And the bird flu. And the swine flu. Mad cow. Hmmm?

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO, HUH?
The prez said he wants to get rid of the nukes. IMHO, the A-bomb has SAVED more lives than it took. Huh? Yes. Consider this: how many more Americans died in war in the first half of the 20th century compared to the last half. We had battles where tens of thousands died. The entire Iraq/Afgan  war pales in comparison to the 30-day conquest of a little unknown Japanese Island called Iwa Jima.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Iwo_Jima#Aftermath

and in Europe, the Battle of the Bulge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Bulge#Aftermaths

Editors note: A 17-year-old marine from Ohio named Bob MacLea was shot at Iwa, patched up, and returned to the battle; and lived to marry my Peggy's aunt years later. An Italian-American soldier named Tony Seravo laid wounded at the Bulge as German soldiers thrust bayonets into the bodies US soldiers dead and wounded. He lucked out, but his trials weren't over. He wandered thru the forest for a week until he heard some voices. He was so hungry he didn't care if it was US or Nazis, he yelled out for help. He married my mother and they ran a tavern in Chgo named after themselves, Tony & E's.

Things you can't say aloud---because the answer might scare you.
Govt officials put the current debt at $65 trillion. Glenn Beck claims it's actually $99T. What happens when China decides to redeem it's surplus USD? We know they're buying up large tracts of homes in Calif. Think they are loading up on the NYSE?  (That would explain it's recent climb.) Or maybe, they'll settle for our gold mines and oil fields. Why not? We can't use them; the EPA won't let US.
