[ANN] Outlining Keystrokes 1.0.1
- Minor updates to the documentation for this utility. The macros themselves are unchanged.
This utility is recommended if you use the Enhanced Outlining Module. It lets you turn outlining on and off, lets you use Return, Tab and Shift-Tab keys to create and move outline labels and lines, shows and hides the outlining button bar and gives another visual indicator, in the Status Bar, that outlining is on.
WordPerfect from versions 1 through 3.5 had a rudimentary outliner, producing documents that were hard to read. The Enhanced module, added in v. 3.5e, was based on (OK, shamelessly copied from), MORE, a presentation tool like PowerPoint but which had a tremendous outliner. I also copied a few things from FullWrite, a word processing program with a fine outliner.
In a review in 2007 (http://www.atpm.com/10.03/atpo.shtml), the e-zine "About this Particular Macintosh" said of WP's Enhanced Outliner:
"If you are used to working in a word processing environment, this could be the most writer-friendly outliner available.
"WordPerfect has: great outline manipulation commands; extreme internal and external scriptability and macros; named style options that make Word's seem clunky; annotative comments; clones of any element; hyperlinks, including across documents; superb multimedia (and table and drawing) support; folding; multilevels in the sense that outlines can be nested by subscription; markers/tags (as bookmarks) that can be "gathered;" index markers; and - most notably - it is embedded in a macro-capable integrated word processing environment that is impressive even by today's standards."
