With Mac OS versions earlier than X, it was sometimes difficult to
empty the trash. A folder might have no contents but would stay in
the trash: when you tried to empty, an error message would say the
      folder was in use.

To fix this, quit SheepShaver. Go to OS X and, with a utility such as
EasyFind, find an invisible folder named Trash within the folder
you’ve designated as the Unix folder (this defaults to the User
Documents folder). Select it in EasyFind’s list of found items and,
from EasyFind’s File menu, choose Destroy.

Then start SheepShaver again. The trash will be empty.
