      1st International Wind Integration Symposium:

      Models of Wind Power Plants and their Use in System Wide Power System Analysis Studies in Europe,
      16 - 17 June, 2011 / Frankfurt, Germany

      Dear Sir or Madam :

      The 1st Wind Integration Symposium to be held in Frankfurt/Main, Germany from 16-17 June 2011 is organized by the same team that successfully has been organizing the annual International Workshop on Large-Scale Integration of Wind Power into Power Systems as well as on Transmission Networks for Offshore Wind Power Plants for the last 10 years.

      During the most recent Wind Integration Workshops the need for another platform emerged, a platform which would be more flexible to discuss selected topics without going into a lengthy academic paper submission and selection process. Hence, the idea for the Wind Integration Symposium was born. The Wind Integration Symposium will concentrate on specific topics and relevant industry matters within a group of experts.

      This year, the Wind Integration Symposium will focus on Simulation Models of Wind Power Plants and their Use in System Wide Power System Analysis Studies in Europe. The program committe, which consists of representatives from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures, identified the topic as very relevant for better evaluation of the impact of increasing wind penetration on power system operation. The presentations will come from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures and we hope to get a vivid discussion during the symposium.

      The four symposium sessions are:

      • Session 1: Network Operator Studies - the Need case;
        Session Chair: Helge Urdal, National Grid, UK
      • Session 2: Design and Validation of Wind Power Plant Models - Previous & Current International Initiatives;
        Session Chair: Stephan Wachtel, GE Wind, Germany
      • Session 3: Resolving the Conflict Between Realistic Validated Models & Manufacturer's Confidentiality;
        Session Chair: Eckard Quitmann, Enercon, Germany
      • Session 4: Discussion on a European Way Forward on Studies & Suitable Validated Models;
        Session Chairs: Peter Christensen (Vestas) plus TSO representative (to be named)

      The detailed programm is outlined on the symposium's website.

      Key principal ideas for the symposium:

      • Speakers are invited by the program committee, aiming at high quality presentations of persons who are deeply involved in the topics.
      • No proceedings, presentations might be published on the web.
      • No parallel session, sufficient time for discussion and networking.

      For participation fees and registration for the Wind Integration Symposium see the symposium's website.

      All participants of the Wind Integration Symposium are invited to a conference dinner on 16 June, 2011 to facilitate networking and a further exchange of experiences.

              Hi all,

              I would like to invite you to the Wind Integration Symposium Frankfurt, May 8 - 9, 2012, see http://www.windintegrationsymposium.org/

              The Frankfurt Wind Integration Symposium is conceived as a flexible platform to discuss selected topics within a group of experts without going into a lengthy academic paper submission and selection process. A program committee of representatives from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures identifies the topics which are currrently relevant for a better evaluation of the impact of increasing wind penetration on power systems.

              The 1st Wind Integration Symposium in June 2011 gathered about 100 wind integration experts from Germany, Europe and overseas around the main topic "Simulation Models of Wind Power Plants and their Use in System Wide Power System Analysis Studies in Europe".

              This year, the Wind Integration Symposium will focus on Integration of renewables - High penetration issues: Understanding and managing the changing power system dynamics with high level of Non Synchronous Generation.

              The presentations will come from TSOs and wind turbine manufactures and we hope to get a vivid discussion during the symposium.

              The 5 symposium sessions are:

              Session 1: Experiences and challenges for TSOs/DSOs associated with high penetration of renewables Analysis of Experiences of Power System technical challenges for countries with high instantaneous penetration of non-synchronous plant.
              Session 2
              : Analysis of associated challenges of high penetration
              Session 3
              : Principle solutions to high penetration challenges
              Session 4
              : Modelling challenges for investigation of high penetration challenges
              Session 5
              : Panel Session

              The detailed program is outlined on the symposium's website http://www.windintegrationsymposium.org/program.html

                Dear Sir or Madam,

                We look forward to welcoming you to this year's Renewables Integration Symposium to be held in Mainz, Germany on 19-20 June 2013.

                The Renewables Integration Symposium follows on from the two previous Wind Integration Symposiums which were held in Frankfurt in 2012 and 2011.

                This year, the Symposium will focus on High integration issues: Integration of Renewable Generation into the Distribution Network – Experience and Solutions from Germany and the World.
                The symposium languages will be English and German with simultaneous translation.

                Program:
                Session I: Operation strategies for distribution networks with high share of renewables
                In this session, German and international DSOs share their experience with the integration of high share of renewables into distribution networks and outline future developments/solutions.

                Confirmed speakers:
                - Enno Wieben (EWE, Germany),
                - Raffael La Fauci (EWZ, Switzerland)

                Session II: Interface between distribution and transmission network: What is needed from both sides!
                With increasing penetration levels of distributed renewables, operation of transmission and distribution networks must be coordinated much better in the future than they are today. In this session, TSO/DSOs report on their current ideas.

                Confirmed speakers:
                -  Per Lund (Energinet.dk, Denmark),

                    Dear Colleagues,

                    We are look forward to welcoming you to this year's Renewables Integration Symposium to be held in Mainz, Germany on 19-20 June 2013.

                    Confirmed speakers: - Enno Wieben (EWE, Germany), - Raffael La Fauci (EWZ, Switzerland)

                    Session II: Interface between distribution and transmission network: What is needed from both sides!
                    With increasing penetration levels of distributed renewables, operation of transmission and distribution networks must be coordinated much better in the future than they are today. In this session, TSO/DSOs report on their current ideas. Confirmed speakers: -  Per Lund (Energinet.dk, Denmark), - Hans Abele (TransnetBW, Germany), - Simon Tweed (Eirgrid, Ireland)

                    Session III: Principle solutions to high penetration challenges
                    Distributed renewable energy sources mainly influence voltage levels in distribution networks. In this session, the issue of voltage control with distributed renewable generation is discussed from different points of view.
                    Confirmed speakers:-  Adam Slupinski (ABB, Germany), -  Markus Pöller (M.P.E, Germany), Jens Fortmann (REpower, Germany), - Bernhard Ernst (SMA Solar Technology AG, Germany)

                                    Dear Colleagues,

                                    Last year's 4th Solar and the 13th Wind Integration Workshop took place in Berlin, Germany.

                                    With 175 solar & 300 wind participants the 2014 edition was a very successful workshop year. You can find selected video recorded presentations from the  2014 Solar & Wind Integration Workshops in Berlin here:

                                    Did you know that at the Berlin workshops...
                                    •     we had participants from around 30 different countries?
                                    •     85% of the Solar & 92% of the Wind participants rated the networking possibilities as very good or good?

                                    The next workshops will take place in Brussels, Belgium from 19-22 October 2015, see the following web pages for more details:
