Group Description

Discussion forum to serve as
companion for the Wildlife Ontario website.

Our current focus is the ongoing wildlife rehabilitation
crisis in Ontario. Please read Backgrounder.

Our goal is to serve as a political forum for individuals and organizations that are frustrated by the lack of help for orphaned and injured wildlife in Ontario, that want to see progressive solutions to human-wildlife conflicts and who are prepared to press for changes to inappropriate policies or practices that harm wildlife.

We are a political action group, i.e. hands-on aspects of wildlife rehabilitation is not the mandate nor interest of this group. There are a number of discussion groups that are geared to wildlife care topics that may better suit those interests. For training, the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council offers on-line training and courses. You can contact them at director@iwrc-online.org.

This is NOT a list for debating MNR policy (we do not support the new regulations and heavy handed practices which deny humane care for wildlife and are responsible for having eliminated the majority of wildlife rehabilitation in Ontario) and is NOT a list for hunters. If you have a pro-hunting perspective, this forum is not a platform for you to promote your beliefs! Pro-hunting messages will not be approved for distribution. There are other forums for that.

When signing up for membership, please include a description of your interest in wildlife and why you want to join. We also require your full name and location.

Your membership will be reviewed by one of our moderators before you are accepted.
